Help!

How do I know if I have a eating problem or I'm just really hungry? I went from 200 to 150 in a year and was doing good with eating but now like once a week I just get really hungry and binge out, I don't know if I'm just a growing teen or if I have a real problem? All the binges and eating to gain weight and I've still lost 5 pounds this year so I guess that's a plus, any tips on motivation or anything also very encouraged

Binging can mean different things really. Some people binge because they are hungry, this happens a lot to people who are on diets. Other people binge because they have an eating disorder. We all binge on Thanksgiving and other holidays :P If you think you are binging because of hunger try increasing the amount of protein in your diet, since that will make you satiated longer and fend off hunger. If you believe that you may have an eating disorder it is very important that you talk to a doctor and get counseling from someone who understands eating disorders and they will be able to help sort you out and develop strategies for becoming healthier.

One thing that might help you is to talk to a nutritionist. If you can't go to a nutritionist on your own or if your parents can't do it, try talking to one of your fitness teachers at your school about your diet and exercise plan, if they're any good at all as a teacher they should be happy to help you work out a plan and set goals. Do so even if you aren't taking a fitness class right now, just ask for a meeting and bring in your food and exercise diary. The school councilor is also a good resource if you believe you have an eating disorder, as is the school nurse if you have one.

Above all don't be afraid to ask for help.

If you find that you are very hungry...eat, but don't go overboard. Have a snack. Log it into MFP, and when you are not hungry, put it away. As you get more fit and drop weight, you'll actually need to eat more food. Are you still at the same calorie level that you were when you started losing weight? You may need to increase your intake.

if you have been dieting for a while, it may be worthwhile to take a week or two and eat at maintenance, then get back to it. This will give your mind and body a little break to get the hormones back to normal.

Just be careful not to go in with the mindset of "i'm off the diet for 2 weeks so I better cram as much junk down my gullet as possible during that time" Set a date to get back to it, try to make good choices until then and use a little moderation, but don't necessarily worry about losing weight, then start losing weight again.
