Amenorrhea???

Any people who actually started missing periods when they started eating healthy? I'm 5'3/3 and 110 ish and around 1.5 year ago I started living healthy, NEVER lost weight, even gained a bit of weight. But I started exercising which I never did. And guess what..I lost my period and still didn't get it. The doctor isn't being helpful and says there's nothing wrong with me. I eat around 2000 cal a day with lots of fats and carbs (nuts, lots of fruits, veggies, mainly vegan, brown rice, other starches, beans, actually anything organic). Anyone else who ever experienced this?

Having a low weight can cause your cycle to go away. Other underlying medical issues could as well. You could always try a new doctor for a second opinion, or maybe see a dietician/nutritionist to see if maybe what you're eating could be causing problems.

I don't know your body type, but it could be possible that your weight is low for your frame.0 -
I've never had regular periods and I found out later it was due to Thalassemia. Didn't see that one coming, but I'm not complaining. It's not always a diet/exercise related thing. There are other wild card variables that could be at hand.0

Did your OB/gyn actually do blood work? Amenorrhea at your age could be due to increased physical activity, but it could be due to bunch of other issues such as Polycystic ovarian syndrome, premature ovarian failure, elevated prolactin levels, and numerous others. Unless they looked at your estrogen, testosterone, LH, and FSH levels and possibly did an ultrasound then I would go see someone else that will take your concerns a little more seriously.0

I had gone under tremendous stress about 3 years ago and I eventually developed a benign tumor in my pituitary gland. There are many different reasons you may not be having your period. I agree with getting blood work, if you haven't already, because it'll help reveal more than just trying to guess.0

I stopped getting my period last fall, at age 42. I thought it was maybe due to diet/exercise. Turns out, I actually had gone post-menopausal with few other symptoms. I've had the blood work, and my doctor says my levels wouldn't be from diet/exercise--just genetics. (My mom went post-menopausal with few symptoms when she was 36.) I also went to an OB/GYN recently to learn more, and she agrees that I'm just plain done! This was all quite a surprise to me, so you never know.1

thallassemia? Wow, I have thallassemia minor but I never thought that could be the reason since I don't have any symptoms. But thanks! I'll ask my doctor about that. But did you get any pills, or whatever to get your period back?0

It's the third one I've seen so far.
@goldengirl111 these threads you are bumping are two years old. It's great that you are searching for people with similar interests, but these people are not likely around anymore. Maybe there is a group you can join? Or start your own thread and request current members with similar interests to join you.0
