Wondering if anyone with Type 1 Diabetes has tried a low-carb diet and had trouble losing weight?

Hi. I have been type 1 for 27 years. I am reasonably stable with my weight, but have been trying low carb to better manage my blood sugars. And lose a few pounds if I have to wear a swimming suit somewhere. I have had the most success with a morning green smoothie, and having just protein/vegetable meals. I do have an apple in the smoothie, and I do have some carb in my meals. Croutons or dried fruit on a salad, or chutney as a flavor addition. Most vegetables have some carbs. I have struggled with hating my meals if they are extremely low carb, and giving myself too much leeway by thinking "it's low carb, not no carb". I am trying to lose 5-7 pounds in prep for a hiking vacation, so I'm being more strict with carbs now. What is your approach? What have you been struggling with?0
