Hi, I am trying to eliminate high glycemic foods from my diet and reduce sugar cravings. I use corn starch in so many dishes to thicken sauces, stir frys etc,, Does anyone know of anything healthier that I could use instead and have had success adding it to stir fry's in particular?
Thanks!
Thanks!

What about a more watery sauce? Reduce it down, but don't thicken it.0

Arrowroot.
I'm not sure of it's glycemic index, but it's used often to thicken sauces in restaurants.0 -
maybe some kind of vegetable puree?0

Thanks! I will see if Arrowroot is a lower glycemic alternative!
Thanks everyone for the advice!0 -
You can use flour but I am not sure it is much better unless you use the wheat flour. Also, creamed soups can be used to thicken sauces and you can usually get them fat-free.0

Flour
For a recipe I did in the past I didn't want to buy cornstarch so I googled a substitute and it said flour. I used 1 tbsp of whole wheat flour for a kung pow sauce.0 -
Thanks, will try this!0

Not sure where they fall on the glycemic index but Potato Starch - not Potato Flour works, Arrowroot, Xanthum Gum, and coconut flour are all options I use in gluten free cooking.0
