From what I understand, it can be quite hard to do, but yes... you can drink too much water.

Yes. Water poisoning is a thing and people have died from it.

But you'd have to consume monolithic amounts of it.

Only publicized about 1 person i can recently remember dying from water poisoning.... however, I think it is quite difficult to accomplish.. granted if your kidneys are functioning properly, your bladder is emptying properly, your heart and lungs are all good, I would think one would be symptomatic before fluid started shifting around in your body..

For example on MFP if I log that I have drank more than 10 cups of water per day it shows the cup over flowing lol...do I need to worry about that? I have already consumed 8 cups of water and it's only dinner time and I am heading out to kickboxing soon and will of course drink even more water.

Some lady died a few years ago in a radio contest to win a WII or something stupid like that.

Yeah..it is possible to have too much water but not very probable. YOu would almost have to be forcing yourself to continiously drink and chug and drink and chug it.
  • This is probably off a bit, but a general rule, I think from a p90x book I had, you should shoot to drink 1/2 your weight in ounces. Plus 4 ounces for every half hour of working out you do.
So I weigh 140 and work out for an hour, so I try to drink 78 oz each day. More if it's hot outside.
