Feeling low late afternoon

Hello All,
This is my first post here. I want to lose 12 kgs and I started my journey just last week. I joined a gym and workout religiously and log what I eat. I am usually under my calories goal by 100 or so everyday.
It's going great so far. Exercise keeps me really happy and I'm pumped up at the beginning of each day.

But around late afternoon, I feel down and sad. What's that about, any idea?

I'm not taking any multi-vitamin so I think I should add one to the diet to ensure that I'm getting all nutrients. I'm not really dieting, just eating sensibly and cut out junk(most of it.)

Has anyone experienced this?

And yeah, I don't feel hungry, just sad.

Thanks in advance,
Sayali.

Might want to make sure you're eating enough fats (and esp oils). If you don't eat much fish, try taking some omega-3 supplements. And don't forget to drink enough water, dehydration can cause all sorts of problems.

Are you eating to many carbs because they can make you feel full and have energy but around 3-4 in the afternoon a lot of people feel like they need a nap they have a energy slump. Try eating some protein like a piece of meat (fat off) or a small piece of cheese, find a protein drink helps as well but the best thing is an apple, its been proved that out of all fruit except bananas (more carbs) an apple will keep you full for longer and the sweetness will give your energy a boost. A lot of people who work in offices suffer from the same thing you do, maybe you could google it to see if I have it correct.
Hope this helps and makes sense.

Could be a vitamin deficiency - or maybe just a good time for something like a banana which has a little sugar. Or a 5 minute brisk walk to rev up your heart rate.

    Thanks all!
Let's see how today goes. I'll try your suggestions.
And yes, I am a vegetarian so mostly eat carbs.

Why are you always 100 or so calories under your goal? Try hitting your goal a little more consistently. Also, are you eating back any exercise calories?

    Hey,
No, I am not deliberately 100 under my goal, and my goal includes calories burned from exercise.
I find that I cannot meet my goal calories, I just eat as regularly as I used to.
Anyways, it's been better since yesterday. I'm just tired from gymming now and a bit sore. :(

i used to feel sleep after lunch all the time, sometimes even dizzy when I was working in the US and eating all that junk food.
but back home now in Asia, I just eat a smaller lunch or just packets of biscuits for lunch instead, and now I no longer feel sleepy in the afternoon :)
