Hi All,

I'm doing the 7-day cabbage soup diet:

http://www.cabbage-soup-diet.com/eating-plan/

And I'm wondering if anyone on here who has done it before has good suggestions or recipe ideas. I made a great sauteed pepper, onion, and spinach breakfast for "veggie day"and I'm interested to know what other people do to make the week more interesting. Thanks!

ok. here it is translated with google. if it doesn't make sense let me know:

Cabbage soup diet helps both detoxification and the weak , but you have to consider that it is a diet with very few calories , so you're not allowed to follow more than a week. And after you 're done you have to have a very healthy diet if you want to get fat again.

Cabbage soup diet - the days menu
    Day 1
Cabbage soup and fruit , except bananas.
    Day 2
Cabbage soup and vegetables , less beans, peas or corn. At breakfast you get to eat a baked potato or cooked with a teaspoon of butter.
    Day 3
Cabbage soup , vegetables and fruits, with the exceptions of days 1 and 2 . And today you get to eat a potato or boiled cop with butter.
    Day 4
Cabbage soup , eight bananas and two glasses of skim milk.
    Day 5
Cabbage soup , up to 500 grams of lean meat, six red and at least six glasses of water.
    Day 6
Cabbage soup , up to 500 grams of lean meat and vegetables.
    Day 7
Cabbage soup , up to 200 grams of brown rice, vegetables and fruit juices .

    diet rules
Cabbage soup can be consumed in any quantity
yOU can drink unsweetened tea or mineral . Fruit juices can drink only on day 7 .
wHEN a particular amount is not specified, means you're allowed to eat as much as you want. For example, today you are allowed vegetables, you can eat in any amount .
Meats and vegetables can cook in the oven, steamed or boiled . Fried prohibited .
Vegetable salads can only put vinegar without oil.

How to prepare cabbage soup for weight loss
    • 1 large cabbage
    • 1 small celery
    • 3 carrots
    • 2 sweet peppers
    • 3 large onions
    • 4 Red
    • Salt, pepper, lemon salt (optional).

Fry chopped vegetables except cabbage and tomatoes for 5 minutes. Add water , cabbage finely chopped and peeled tomatoes . Allow to boil. Finally it can sour lemon with salt , as desired .

I have tried this a long time ago and I remember on the 3rd or 4th day I was sick of it. All in all, I got good results though....
Better digestion and fat percentage lost.

I actually did this - and let's just say that for more than a week - many, many years ago.

In fairness, I did lose fat... along with a lot of muscle and I couldn't even look at cabbage afterwards. I'm probably the closest thing you'll find to a "success story" and I definitely don't recommend doing this.

Eat a balanced diet instead :flowerforyou:

ETA : also, I'm not the reporting type so I won't do so, but discussion on very low calorie diets is frowned upon 'round here.

As someone who was pushed into this utterly stupid diet when I was younger, my best suggestion is stock up on toilet paper and have some good reading material in your bathroom. You'll thank me later.

Whatever 7 days of this is NOT going to kill you, it will however make you want to kill someone else, LOL. I've done it and I love cabbage but I got to one point of if I have to eat another bite of that soup I will hurt someone. I still make it from time to time just because I love eating it. I also really like the Sacred Heart soup, not the diet, just the soup. YUMMY

This was all the rage years ago. I tried it (along with every other fad diet out there) managed 3 days before I got a terrible headache, felt awful, and gave up. I lost 2 pounds and gained 4 so complete fail for me.

Having said that cabbage soup makes a great low calorie snack.

    Good luck:drinker:

This diet is still around?? Make sure you have plenty of air freshener. You'll need it.

Shouldn't this be in the "ridiculous diet" thread?

Sorry, but BLAAHHH! That sounds just awful. I'm surprised the diet plan doesn't come with a special cabbage soup recipe already. You could make one up. . . .

I think it would be better for you to reconsider how you're going about the weight loss. This is not a very healthy way to diet, as many others have already pointed out. If you decide you must do something like this, replace the soup with different raw, freshly made vegetable/fruit juices-- way more nutrients in those, even if that's still not an ideal way of eating.

I'm currently on Day3 of this diet....

I know its not a long term ideal, but I have a short term need to lose weight quickly and so far this is working.. not suprising when its so low in carbs, protein, fat etc etc

I made the soup with paprika and roasted peppers along with some cajun seasoning, I then blended it all.. It's actually not bad.

It'll be a struggle to get through the full week but I am determined to do it, I need to shed another 8lbs to be under the upper weight limit for a tandem skydive I have booked.

I've tried it. Worked well to cleanse my system, but the weight did return.

I do a version of the Cabbage soup on a regular basis. About every month when I'm cleaning out the veggie drawer before we go shopping for groceries. I like it.

Personally I'd just rebook the sky dive for another time rather than torture myself doing this

I see you put in your profile that you don't need to lose weight - that you just want to shape up? Why are you doing this "diet" then?

I really enjoy a nice bowl of cabbage soup-- in fact, I think I'll make some for supper tonight-- but I fit it in with all kinds of other foods and generally try to hit my macro targets.

Several of us at work did this years ago.... all the answers pretty much hit it on the head...except maybe it killing you... I seem to remember by the end of the week I never wanted to see a cabbage again.....

I never knew at the time how good a banana tasted.... until the day that you could eat a bunch of them.... the lean meat day...OMG....at the time I had never had a steak that tasted so good!

We all lost wieght... we all gained it back... on to better things...

    MFP all the way!
  • This is my second attempt to complete this diet. Well I think it is going great. I made it with a lot of broth this time and I made it quite bland which is perfect for changing its flavor each day or each meal its up to to you.
I use dill and garlic, thyme and rosemary, habanero and pepper, and a combinations of six pepper, rosemary, garlic and herb. I love it. Totally. Today is day 4 and yes I have lost 6 pounds. I am marinading my
steaks and lamb chops for days 5 and 6..... I have also restocked my fridge and my mind in an attempt to keep it off this time.

I think this is one of the easiest I have tried, though the unsweetened drinks is a challenge and since "real" green tea has or is supposed to have weight loss properties I am able to drink it with spicy soup and it is not too too too bad. Still bad.

My problem is not that I crave sweets I love sweets. Sooooo..... Now fruit has become my new sweet.

If it's so easy, why an "attempt"? Why not just set yourself a reasonable deficit and lose weight without a ridiculous fad diet that makes you stink out the neighbourhood?
