Bathroom scales are not very accurate. Using body fat calipers are the most accurate way you can do it yourself. You can also use body measurements, but if you have the calipers and someone to help you, I'd stick with that.

Callipers are cheap and accurate enough, but they do seem to underestimate the amount of fat you actually have (personal experience). Measurements and scales usually end up way off. The electrical method is usually way off as well as the amount of water currently in the body will make it shift. The most accurate way is probably the Bod Pod, but it's also pretty expensive. If you just want to track your progress, cheaper methods are fine. If you REALLY want an accurate number, then might want to consider paying for a session.0
