Exercising and Calorie Goal

Hello everyone !

Not sure if this question has been asked already.. when making your fitness goals with myfitnesspal.com, we are asked our activity level as well as how often we work out. I work out three times a week.

My question is: As myfitnesspal.com has already taken the amount of workouts I do in a week, is it counterproductive to my daily calorie goal to include my exercise for the day?

i.e. My daily caloric goal is 2120 calories. Having gone for a run today, I will have burned between 400-600 calories. Should I include this deficit in my caloric goal (as this will make it at least 2500 calories now)?

    No.

MFP's activity level are daily activity only, like your job and daily life. MFP expects you to log any additional exercise and eat those calorie back (that is why there is a "net" calorie goal on the homepage).
It is not counter productive. MFP already has you at a deficit depening on the weight loss goal you choose. A lot of people recommend eating at least a portion of your exercise calories back. The more active you are, the more important it is.
