Interesting that a calorie deficit is what's needed to lose weight and exercise is for overall health?

    Nothing new there.

actually, the article is about cortisol levels affecting results and why you may not lose weight exercising. But ok.

I don't know about the others here, but as I age I am more and more concerned not just about weight, but about keeping my body strength, keeping my muscle, keeping my bones strong.

I don't want to become frail or weak as I age because I did nothing to help my body stay strong.

There are lots of good reasons to exercise, especially lifting weights.

I know this article is right, I tried to do it for years with just exercise, and finally realized I had to bite the bullet and weigh and measure my food, which I thought was going to be so terrible, but it really is not bad at all.

control group size is too small; no double blind study; no proof of any other source of stress in study group's lives.....

Also, proof is evident that despite the fact that weight was not lost overall, the group was more fit and in better health at the end of the study.

    Little was proved.

Just make sure they are more functional movements. I changed gyms from a machine-based one (school fitness center) to a more Crossfit type and the difference is vast. I am doing squats without any additional weight and they're tougher then when I was using a machine and adding 80 pounds. I probably worked out more in the 55 minutes today than I did in 90+ at my old fitness center.

^^^^This^^^^^ I fully agree. I see people "tracking" but I know for a fact their measurements are way off.

Usually because they are measuring, not weighing.
