Hi! I just went on a little vacation/ study abroad in England. I am here for five more days and hopped on a scale today to see that I have gained 5lbs. :( I know I have not been eating super well or exerising like normal. But I am still walking and hiking some. I will take a plane back soon and worry about the bloat frpm that too. I have been on vacation for 11 days. Do you think it is all fat gin or some is maybe water? When would I know and when should I weigh once returning?
Thankss

  • It's probably a combo of bloat/fat to be honest. We took a 10day disney trip last august. I gained 7 and my husband gained 5 while we were gone. I lost 5.5 of that in my first week back and the rest the following - I think it's to be expected any time we deviate from our norm. Just finish out your trip - have fun!!! - and tackle it all upon your return! ????

Most likely water with a pound or two of gain. I gained 6lbs on vacation, gone the following week.
  • How did you lose the weight the following week? Just getting back on the wagon?

Many times the gain is due to water retention and not fat. The body releases the water much faster.
  • How do you generally lose the water weight once you return? thanks for the comments :)

Weight loss/ weight maintenance/ health and fitness - it's ALL a life long process. Don't let a handful of days spent on vacation freak you out!!! Who cares if the scale is up a few pounds, who cares if it's water weight or whatever. The most important point is that you return to your healthy habits once vacation is over!

Just go back to your normal routine, drink lots of water, and it'll come off on its own.
