I did the one in the Rockies last summer and I'm already signed up for Aug. 2011.
It is a great, great time and you won't regret doing it. People of all shapes, sizes and ages do it. Mine was at an altitude of 10,000 ft and so there were a lot of walkers (and even me, who runs @ 5,280 ft regularly had to walk part of it when it went up the mountain).
As far as training, well, that's kind of hard, unless you have hay bales, tire fields, junk cars, etc. around you to train on Just practice running (or walking the distance) Honestly, the obstacles are not that hard...it's more fun than anything else and the Viking hat makes it all totally worth it.0 -
