stuck at same weight...need advice please

Hi. I started using mfp 5 weekz ago. The first week i lost 5lbs nd the 2nd/3rd week i lost 3lbs each week. however since then i have stayed the same weight. I am 5'5" and am at 160lbs. Mfp has said 1290 kcals a day which i am eatibg but i am also exercising at least 6 days a week doing insanity. However i am not always eating all my kcals burnt so sometimes leaving me at less than 1290 a day. I know this may well be the issue but please dont judge me i am worried about eating the extra kcals incase i then put on weight. Please someone reassure im ok to eat my extra kcals or tell me how much i really should be eating using the bmr method. Thank you!!

  • Everyone reaches a plateau at some point, but if you're doing the Insanity Challenge then you definitely need to eat more than just 1290! I did that myself and ended up getting sick as my body couldn't keep up with the weight loss and excess exercise. I know it feels wrong to eat sometimes, when you're trying to lose weight, but your body needs fuel to work. Try following the Insanity Diet plan that comes with it, or just eat as clean as possible. Eat into your calories gained from exercise too, as if you eat too little and exercise too much, you'll put it all on again when you start eating more again.

Stick with it, and good luck!

I think that you're eating to little calories. With your height, weight and the amount you exercise i'd say you should be eating minimum around 1400 calories a day. Also, if you've hit a plateau don't be scared to eat a little more for a couple of days to try and break it. You could also try changing your workout. By that i mean try exercises that you would never normally do. Good Luck :)

Thanks for replying. Think im going to try upping my calories forr the next couple of weeks or sp.Thougjt that could be the issue after reading up but thought something must be working as i had losses the first three weeks. Checked what my bmr is and its 1520 so with exercising 6 days a week know i should def be eating more than what mfp says i should be.

Yes, please eat more! At least half your exercise calories! Your BMR is what your body needs just for normal everyday function like breathing and digestion. I know eat more to lose sounds strange but it really does work, especially when you eat clean. Good luck, add me as a friend if you would like some extra support!
