New goal has changed all data

Kia ora in preparation for maintenance today I changed my weight loss a week goal to .2kg. As I expected that has now given me an additional number of calories a day but what I did not expect is for that number of calories to be applied retrospectively throughout the last six months of my diary. For the past six months I have been on 1300 cal and so my food intake and net balance at the art and of each day has been calculated on that number - so for example on a particular day a month ago I may have had a remaining balance of 100 cal which showed on my data. With the change I made to day all my past history has been adjusted to me being on 1400 cal so a previous under is showing differently . I would have liked to have kept the record of my progress and I just wonder if anyone else has noticed this or have I set my new goal incorrectly in some way. Apologies for the long post I hope I have been clear in what I am trying to explain thank you for your advice

I hate that. I'd much rather the graphs show what your goals (not just calories) were at the time. But it's a free service, so I can't complain too much. At least we can see our actual history.0

Yes it's very annoying to see the past months daily goals be thrown off. Each time you change your daily calorie goal, this will happen.0

I've got a spreadsheet I enter my calories eaten and exercise calories into every day and I track my changing goal in the spreadsheet so I have the historical data.0

Are you using the website, or a phone app? On the website, that problem was fixed some time ago; now, if you look back in your diary, it shows your historical goals.
For example, my current calorie goal is 1600 calories/day. Last May, it was 1570 calories/day. If I go back to my diary entries from May 2013 on the MFP website, I see the 1570 goal. If I look on my phone or iPad, though, I see 1600.0 -

Agree, and I also think that is not helpful at all. It doesn’t allow us to go back to previous months or years in my case, to see what we did right or wrong.
I know that some people keeps spread sheets in addition to the information entered in MFP, but in my opinion that is adding extra work and time, especially when we are members of a site that is "supposed" to do that already.
And by the way, being a free site to members is not an excuse…0 -
I also really hate that. I've complained on the Tech forums for MFP. Your charts and past performance should always be relative to your goals then.
I also REALLY hate how hard it is to get your old data (I posted on that the other day). I just joined the National Weight Loss Registry. I've been doing this over 2 years. You can only get reports for the last year. If I hadn't downloaded my data earlier, I would have had to do it page by page by page to get the information I needed. MFP has the data, it just isn't allowing us to download it well. As a data junkie, I find this disappointing.0 -
I did notice that happened when I first readjusted my goals almost a year ago but they've fixed the problem as far as I can tell because I can go back to previous dates/goals and they are as they should be. Sorry, I know that's really no help at all to you. I don't understand why that would happen to you when mine seems to be working just fine.0
