Newbie - plateau frustration

Hello all! I'm new to mfp and am loving it! It's such a great tool. Anyway, I am doing herbalife as I have over 5 stone to lose. Prior to the diet I was consuming in excess of 3500 calories a day. I've since cut down to around 1000 a day with. Herbalife and a high protein diet. However the first week was great, second not so good and now I'm not losing anything. Frustrated to say the least. Any tips? I am starting 30 day shred tomorrow but with the massive reduction in calories I was hoping for a more rapid loss

You need to find a balance. Don't eat 3500 calories but eat more than 1200. You want to eat something that you can live with cause once you do lose your 5 st you will need to "maintain" and prevent yourself from regaining or falling into old habits

You need to be netting at least 1200 calories a day. Net means intake calories - exercise calories btw.

Weigh your food, track it in your diary, be honest with your diary, you will get there.

Guidelines for Goal Weight Loss Per Week:
If you have more than 75 lbs to lose: 2 lbs/week
    40-75 lbs to lose: 1.5 lbs/week
    10-40 lbs to lose: 1 lb/week
Less than 10 lbs to lose: 0.5 lb/week

Stop wasting your money on products and spend 10 bucks on a one time purchase of a food scale.

A plateau is not 1 week of not losing anything, it is months.

    absolutely this ^^

1 week is not a plateau

save your money and stop with the herbalife

Have a moderate calorie deficit, exercise and be patient.
  • Thanks folks. Being new to dieting I thought plateau was when you didn't lose. Doh! Now I know....

Lots of the people I know highly recommend herbalife hence my trying it. So what sort of level of exercise and calorie intake should I be aiming for? I have read so much and it's just confused me to be honest.

    This!

As other have said.. 1 week isn't a plateau. 4-6 is more like it. Eat more and keep at a deficit. Stop wasting money on Herbalife

Input your information accurately on myfitnesspal. Use the guidelines I gave you on my above post to help you decide on how much weight loss should be aimed for per week. From there, go with the calories it tells you to eat per day and log your food accurately by weighing it.

As for exercise, test the waters and do something you think is fun! I really like the trampoline because I'm still a little kid inside lol. Strength training is always a smart thing to do. Remember that the protein it will give you for a goal on myfitnesspal is a MIN not a max.
