Issues with swimsuit tops

Options
A little background first: I've never been very well-endowed in the bust department, even when I was at my heaviest. Now that I've lost weight and substantially lowered my body fat, the girls have shrunk with the rest of me. I like how I look and I'm happy that they don't sag and have stayed in proportion. I have a little trouble finding bras I like (good luck finding 32Bs that aren't push-ups), but I deal with it.

I was all psyched up to go swimsuit shopping yesterday and picked out a variety of different styles to try on. Then I discovered that strapless bikini tops are NOT flattering at all anymore. I have somewhat visible pecs, which looks a little off in some tops anyway, and the strapless tops seem to squish what little boob I have downward and/ or minimize it. I thought to myself that my chest looked like the letter "b" from the side, haha! Really, REALLY not a good look for me. I wouldn't mind the minimization if I was going to be swimming for sport or exercise, but I'm just going to be goofing off in the water. I'm not a fan of push-up bras in general, so I stayed away from the padded underwire tops.

I ended up finding a halter-style top that looked really good and was very comfortable (bonus: the bottom doesn't tie at the hips!), but I was a little disappointed that a big portion of the retro-style suits are off limits to me now.

Small-busted ladies: have you had similar problems? What style top do you like best? What have you found that looks good on you?

I'm more of a bigger busted girl, but I think that halter tops look the best on any sized chest.

smaller chested girl here too! I got measured at Victoria's Secret not to long ago and they measured me as a 34A. There were some styles of bras they didn't even make in that size. So I bought my "sister" size which was a 32B. Whatever that means.

Anyways, I have always been small chested with the exception of breastfeeding my two kids. I like them this way though...it just suits my body type well. My favorite top is the halter style too. I found a really good one at Macy's that has a little bit of padding, but not enough to make it look fake. It ties at the top and in the back. The brand was Kenneth Cole. I wore it to the beach a few weeks ago and LOVED it! It was so comfortable.

Find something you feel comfortable in and rock it!! :drinker: Congrats on your weight loss!!

Halters would be good, or maybe just something that's slightly padded, but not really push up.

This is a little off topic (sorry OP) but I feel like I have to respond. I can look at your picture and tell you that you do not wear a 34 band size. Victoria's Secret is quite possibly the worst place to get measured and buy bras. (they told me I was a 36D...really I'm a 28FF) Do yourself a favor and go to Nordstrom or another department store and get measured. Just by eyeballing, your band size is probably 28 or 30.

That is probably a good idea to go to another department store and get measured. I agree that VS isn't always accurate. I went in there a few weeks ago to get a new strapless bra for a special occasion and the lady measured me outside my clothes and said I was a 34C. No way I am a C cup! I even told her, I didn't think that was right and went with the 32B. Thanks for the suggestion! Bras are not my favorite thing to wear, so its nice to get one that fits right!

I should probably go get measured, too. :grumble: The last time I bought bras I ended up in the juniors section, and the 32Bs I brought home have been the best fitting bras I've had in a loooong time. There are a few brands out there that I have to buy 34As in, but most of the time an A cup isn't wide enough, or the cups are too close together. My biggest hurdle is that I have "lower pole fullness", so I normally don't fill out the top part of the cup unless it's padded or a push up of some kind.

At least 99% of shops carry your size so you can try on endless styles and find something you will love and for a reasonable price! Try being a 30G at 18 years old, the only bikinis I can get are from specialist shops for £30/£40 just for the top!! Makes me very very jealous of my 32B friends... Embrace it! please! for me? :flowerforyou:

Ugh, don't even get me started. I feel your pain! They are so expensive because the stores know we have little choice but to pay for them.

Try figleaves (edit: they have every size big and small and in between I'm a 38 E and my friend that is smaller than me got an adorable suit as well) its a bra website I love it, found an adorable bikini that was pretty cheap and they use cup sizes so you don't have to worry about s,m,l sizing. I would suggest measuring yourself or having a friend measure you it will probably be different than what the store gave you.

We ordered my wife a couple of rashguard tops from VS for this season. I think they are pretty sexy on her. She's just back to her ideal weight after finishing nursing our second, and yes, she's frustrated at the changes in her girls as well.

I've always been an A/B even at my heaviest. The halter looks fabulous on us. It's the only style I wear. Work it hunny.

I tend to go for a push-up strapless bandeau style. String triangle or classic halter also work for me. The joys of having to not worry about support, woo, A cups!

I'm about a B and I tend to really like the bra style tops, not generally push up and often with a ruffle. I think I remember reading somewhere that ruffles are supposed to be good on smaller busted women

I TOTALLY DO. For all the self-deprecating jokes I make, I would never trade being a little smaller than average for the opposite end of the spectrum. I love not needing to have support all the time, and rarely ever worrying about or having a wardrobe malfunction. I've had them most of my life and I really do like them.

    Consider it worked! :glasses:

I was *this close* to buying a ruffled top! It does tend to create the illusion of a fuller bust or bum, depending on where the ruffles are. I think they're super cute, and are probably in my near future.
