I've read a lot about it, and would like to start drinking it, the only thing that worries me is my tooth enamel. I know there's loads all over the internet and boards about not brushing teeth AFTER drinking, but what about BEFORE drinking?
Also, do you really notice the benefits of drinking lemon water? x

I drink lemon water all day every day. It tastes nice. That's the only real benefit, the rest is complete hokey.0

This. I have a water bottle that has a citrus juicer on the bottom so I've been drinking a lot of lemon and lime infused water recently. It tastes lovely, but any supposed benefit is all wishful hoping for an easy fix.0 -
A glass of HOT water with half a lemon in the morning......keeps you **ahem** regular.0

Don't know if it has any benefit, but I squeeze some fresh lime or lemon into my water, just to switch it up.0

Yes I drink lemon water. Because it easier to get my water in when it is tasty and there are also vitamins in lemon. Also my acne goes away by about 80% when I drink it, I guess it has to do with alkalizing effects of lemon cos I drink a lot of it, don't know but it works. Haven't noticed any changes in metabolism or or weight loss, or anything like that tho.
About acid wearing off you teeth, I fix it by drinking from a straw. I put it deep in my mouth and water goes in belly without even touching the teeth, or at least not any significant amount so that would hurt teeth. If you are taking a big mouthful of lemon water regularly and moister whole mouth with it I guess it can cause some damage in long run.0 -
I drink it with slice cucumbers0

its good for you but dont do it every day. the citric acid is very hard on your tooth enamel0

Me too! It may sound strange, but the taste is great!!0 -
I am drinking mine right now. I cup of water, half a fresh lemon and heated in the microwave. I do this every morning. I was doing it in the evening too but I think it may have been acting like an appetite suppressant. I was not hungry and having a hard time getting my calories. Someone here told me to cut back to one cup in the morning and I have had no problems since.0

Lemon water is a diuretic.0
-
I like to think it gives me energy only because it taste fresh and crisp
in a 2 liter bottle I place 1/2 cucumber (peeled & diced) 1 small lemon (squeeze juice into bottle & then throw lemons in) and a few mint leaves
let it sit over night in the fridge and drink it throughout the next day. Normally I can get 2 days out of the above recipe but no more than that0 -
I drink lemon infused water every day. I've read all the health benefits on the internet, but have not noticed anything different, except the diuretic part, spend much more time in the bathroom. It's only supposed to be bad for the enamal of the teeth if you drink huge amounts of it, but l also drink it through a straw. I drink so much water that having something with a little flavor is refreshing.0

I drink so much lemon water- I should be 115 pounds, but I'm not. I don't think it really does anything at all weight wise. I just like the taste0

According to Ayurvedic philosophy, choices that you make regarding your daily routine either build up resistance to disease or tear it down. Ayurveda invites us to get a jump-start on the day by focusing on morning rituals that work to align the body with nature's rhythms, balance the doshas and foster self-esteem alongside self-discipline.
Your mind may say you have to check emails, take the dog out, get the kids out the door, that you can't be late for work or that you just don't have enough time to cultivate your own morning rituals.
But, if you can only make time for one ritual that will improve your health, let it be this.....
Start the day out with a mug of warm water and the juice of half a lemon.
It's so simple and the benefits are just too good to ignore. Warm water with lemon:
1. Boosts your immune system
Lemons are high in Vitamin C and potassium. Vitamin C is great for fighting colds and potassium stimulates brain and nerve function and helps control blood pressure.
2. Balances pH
Lemons are an incredibly alkaline food, believe it or not. Yes, they are acidic on their own, but inside our bodies they're alkaline (the citric acid does not create acidity in the body once metabolized). As you wellness warriors know, an alkaline body is really the key to good health.
3. Helps with weight loss
Lemons are high in pectin fiber, which helps fight hunger cravings. It also has been shown that people who maintain a more alkaline diet lose weight faster. And, my experience is that when I start the day off right, it's easier to make the best choices for myself the rest of the day.
4. Aids digestion
The warm water serves to stimulate the gastrointestinal tract and peristalsis—the waves of muscle contractions within the intestinal walls that keep things moving. Lemons and limes are also high in minerals and vitamins and help loosen ama, or toxins, in the digestive tract.
5. Acts as a gentle, natural diuretic
Lemon juice helps flush out unwanted materials because lemons increase the rate of urination in the body. Toxins are, therefore, released at a faster rate which helps keep your urinary tract healthy.
6. Clears skin
The vitamin C helps decrease wrinkles and blemishes. Lemon water purges toxins from the blood which helps keep skin clear as well.
7. Hydrates the lymph system
This cup of goodness helps start the day on a hydrated note, which helps prevent dehydration (obviously) and adrenal fatigue. When your body is dehydrated, or deeply dehydrated (adrenal fatigue) it can't perform all of it's proper functions, which leads to toxic buildup, stress, constipation, and the list goes on. Your adrenals happen to be two small glands that sit on top of your kidneys, and along with your thyroid, create energy. They also secrete important hormones, including aldosterone. Aldosterone is a hormone secreted by your adrenals that regulates water levels and the concentration of minerals, like sodium, in your body, helping you stay hydrated. Your adrenals are also responsible for regulating your stress response. So, the bottom line is that you really don't want to mess with a deep state of dehydration!
Adopting just this one practice of drinking a cup of warm water with lemon in the morning for a month can radically alter your experience of the day. Don't be surprised if you begin to view mornings in a new light.
Like I said, the recipe is really simple—a cup of warm (not hot) water and the juice from half a lemon.

I do this, it's only 12 calories and it makes me feel good. When everyone here was sick, I didn't get sick and I think it was the lemon water. This works great with a green tea bag added to it, too.0 -
I drink lemon water daily. It makes water less boring and people say it helps prevent water retention. I also started infusing my own water with various fruits last night. I used big mason jars and put lemon wedges, a few rasberries, lime, orange slice, fresh mint, cucumbers, blackberries in various combinations and muddled it with a wooden spoon. The only flavor I wasn't into was the lime. From now on i'll only use lime juiced, and throw away the actual peel.

Love lemon water!0

I am a singer and soloist. I have a water bottle with me constantly, and I always put about 4 or 5 drops of lemon juice in my water. It is also a natural diuretic and it makes the nasty tasting water where I live drinkable.0

Lemon water is great...
when you mix it with tea.0 -
GERD, ulcers, and tooth decay...hmmm...think I'll skip the lemon.0
-
Yes I drink lemon water from time to time and the only benefit from it I know of is it gets me to drink more water(plain water isn't appealing to me).0

I think water is a diuretic. You drink water with anything in it you'll have to go. You don't drink enough, you don't go. I also read on WebMD that an effective way to combat dehydration is to drink water flavored with lemon. I think lemons are great, lemon juice has it uses too, but once it hits your stomach acid there isn't much more it can do than be broken down to nourish the body.
Drink flavored water because it tastes good and water helps you stay regular, hydrated, flush out toxins, and combat high blood pressure not because a few drops of flavor added to it has much of a say in it. :drinker:0 -
I've only ever heard that it's really good for you, and about the best additional you can make to your routine.
I read recently about the benefits of drinking a cup of warm water with lemon juice, honey and a teaspoon of cinnamon powder, which is reported to be incredibly good for you - all the benefits of lemon which you've heard about, plus the antioxidant effects of honey with the anti-inflammatory blood-pressure-reducing effect of cinnamon.
I started drinking it just this week, so will wait to see if I notice any kind of difference. I do always find that lemon juice in the morning gives me a real zing on the walk into work. Worth it for that alone0 -
I drink water with lemon juice and salt because it's delicious.0
