Off the wagon and in a ditch

Hi,

I joined MFP a couple of years ago and lost 54lbs in the first year. Since then, I managed to keep the weight off but not manage to lose any more. To my horror, I weighed myself this morning and have gained 27lbs! There are several reasons for this:

1. My job has changed from Quality assurance manager (a reasonably stress free job), and have now taken over responsibility for health and safety and the environment for a Japanese chemical company (major stress and constant dealings with the HSE, county council, Japanese auditors etc.)

2. I started weight lifting and upping my protein intake – muscle weight? (I wish)

3. I have to spread my time between the UK, Asia and Europe.

So, why am I posting this?
I need help getting back on track. My MFP friends have always supported me, but I need to be pushed harder.

Please help!

    you've done this before right?

and now due to lack of tracking you gained half of it back....so you really know what to do...

start tracking accurately and eating in a deficit.

At the same point but less weight gained back. I'm throwing myself back into what I know and ignoring everything else at the minute. The same point - calorie deficit, exercise and patience. I also wrote a thread about this.

Yes I have. It was always easier in the past as I was based in one place and it was easy to log accurately. It's the travel that buggers things up for me. It's difficult to get a calorie breakdown in the middle of India or Russia.

especially track your protein shakes man - some are LOADED with sugar and carbs - were you trying to bulk??

you know what to do - get back to the basics!!! 54lb loss, already halfway there, but maybe this next 54lb will put you 27lb under your last effort.

    weights - cool!
protein shakes - the right ones at the right times for the right reasons, FULLY TRACKED - awesome.

I'm no expert, but i try to work it so that the protein shakes I take replace a meal, making my activity kj burn is a bonus

    you know all this!

    Take control dude

    LOL

Perhaps you need lots of international MFPals? I'm sure many have logging down pat with local foods. Also you may need to knuckle down and figure out a way to prepare your meals. That's always a guaranteed way to know exactly what and how many calories you're ingesting!

You're going to always have to fight to maintain according to this documentary:

Let your guard down for a minute and you'll head right back to your starting point faster than you can believe it.

You can do this. You're getting a grip again. Start logging. You may not know calorie content exactly, but if you've logged enough times in your life, you will be able to estimate pretty well. If you're eating out, then log an extra tablespoon of oil, salt, and sugar, to your estimate. Just kidding, sort of.

Cheering you up outta that ditch and back onto the wagon!
