Honestly, it depends on how much you weigh and how badly you really want it. I weighed close to 250, 90 days ago and now I'm at 221. I lost quite a bit but in three months, I wasn't able to lose 50 pounds. But it really depends on how much you weigh, the more you weigh, the more you'll be able to lose.

If you are actually 132 lbs overweight, then dropping 50 in 80 is feasible. Not advisable (don't fall for The Biggest Loser Protocol) but totally possible.

Good job on being so active! You're probably always hungry because you need fuel for all the activities you're doing. 50 pounds in 3 months is pretty close to impossible unless, maybe, you stop eating. Like at all, which is really not recommended.

I was morbidly obese (343 pounds) and I lost around 3 pounds a week when I started. That's pretty fast for anyone to lose. That's about 12 pounds a month, and still only 36 pounds in 3 months. You will likely lose 1-2 pounds a week though, not 3. Just work on losing weight. You'll see your girlfriend in the future and she'll appreciate the weight loss just as much then as now.

  • Thanks so much for the awesome feedback... I will definitely look more into the links and keep calorie count and being active ...Thanks for the support everyone !!!
  • Not without causing yourself some serious health problems and collapsing long before you reached your goal. Youre looking to lose just under 5 lbs/week at that pace, and you need to short yourself 3000 calories from your calorie requirements (approx.) to lose a single pound. That means you'd have to short yourself 15000 calories/week, or 2143 calories per day. If your daily calorie requirement is 2500/day, you'd essentially be limiting yourself to a small bowl of cereal every day, no drinks.

The average high-intensity workout burns about 600 calories/hour, so converesely you could work out 3 1/2 hours per day and ultimately collapse from muscle exhaustion and possible organ damage.

Maybe, in a perfect universe, you could find some way to combine the two (you wouldn't get a single day off), but the sheer demand of this (and sheer exhaustion) would force you to give up after about a week - maybe two - and you'd be left right where you started.

It's a marathon, not a sprint. Aim to lose 2 lbs per week and you'll meet your girlfriend 22 lbs lighter (maybe more if you're just starting out, the first 20 lbs tend to fall off). She'll be impressed, and you'll have established the foundation for a healthier lifestyle that will help carry you the rest of the way.

FYI - 2 lbs per week is still VERY tough (this is as low a goal Fitness Pal will allow - for good reason), but if you're determined, you can do it. Good luck.

    My thoughts:

50 lbs in 80 days is just over 4.5 lbs per week.

Don't overdo it. Depending on your current weight and various other factors, you might lose that much each week for the first few weeks, but I wouldn't count on it for 11 weeks straight.

There's no use in starving (and therefore being tired, grouchy, etc.) every second of the day for 11 weeks to reach 50 lbs in 80 days.

Furthermore, what if you actually succeed? Could be this...
    1) The 11 intense weeks wear you out so much that you don't want to continue any good exercise and eating habits
    2) Completely worn out from those 11 intense weeks, you gain back the 80 lbs that you lost
    3) Future attempts to get back on track and lose the 80 lbs again are discouraged by your memory of how terrible those 11 intense weeks were

But, if you shoot for something more moderate (perhaps set your MyFitnessPal goals to 1 lb or 2 lbs per week), you might get this...
    1) You lose 10 or 20 lbs by the time you see your girlfriend (and if you happen to lose more, that's great)
    2) You develop habits that are sustainable
    3) You continue to lose weight, soon reaching your goal of 80 lbs
    4) You maintain your new weight because you have formed sustainable, healthy habits

It's not impossible, but it's not really feasible, for reasons others have stated. Focus on losing 2 lbs a week, but also be sure to incorporate exercises that will preserve your muscle mass. Namely weights, weights, and more weights! (Or, if you don't have gym access, at the very least do bodyweight exercises like pushups, chinups, etc.). Even a 10-20 lb loss can look pretty dramatic if you preserve as much muscle as possible. It's the difference between looking "cut" and looking "deflated", if that makes sense.

Why yes it is possible. Question is do you want all your teeth? Second question can you afford a new addiction? its call meth.

    Damn....

    Beat me to it.

In short, almost anything is possible in terms of weight loss. It's whether or not you want to do it in a healthy way or not, and also how much money you are willing to spend.

I'm not going to repeat what everyone said already but there is some excellent avice that has been given.

I was morbidly obese, had bariatric surgery due to other health issues (loved the weight loss, but that wasn't the reason for it), and was considered a "fast loser." I didn't lose 50 pounds in 80 days.

    Please don't go there.

That's over half a pound a day. I doubt that is doable in that amount of time. Short of starving yourself.

Meth, I never thought of that. I bet that would work. (I like your sense of humor)

Otherwise my thoughts are no, you have left it too late. Try for 30 lbs. and go to the gym if you want to get there

It's not impossible. It can be done. You have to be on point in every aspect of your diet and exercise and have zero room for error though.

I'm not just talking out my orifice either. I'm on pace to have done just what you're asking about. 50 pounds in 80 days.

That's almost a pound a day; too lazy to do the math. The weight may initially drop off fast, but it will slow down. Aim for a pound-pound and a half a week at most for your current loss goals.
