Just out of interest people who have been weight training and had fat to loose in the beginning did you use any shakes/bars/supplements to help shift the fat also of course with the right nutrition and fitness?

I'd rather not use these, but running upwards of 60+ miles, lifting, cooking 3 meals, kids, work, pta....well, you get the point. Sometimes a bar is what I have post workout because it's all I have time for. I try hard not to because I prefer to eat higher quality than that, but, when I do have them, I go for bars that aren't "sweets" (bars that don't have sugar / brown rice syrup/ etc as the second ingredient! )

I sometes add protein to green or fruit or mixed smoothies :)

I do on the occasion. There's nothing special about them, aside from the convenience of a quick way to hit macro goals (love quest bars but they're pricey). Fat loss will come with a moderate calorie deficit, decent protein intake (typically 1g per pound of lean body mass) and patience. I started at over 31% body fat June of last year and I'm around 17% now. I practice iifym, so I don't really see foods as good or bad but I do try to pick nutrient dense foods for about 80%+ of my intake, if that helps ;)

I used to be really into Think Thin protein bars but I have moved away from that. I try to incorporate whole foods into my diet instead.

I do still use the chocolate protein powder from Trader Joes in my smoothies, though.
