Hello Everyone

Hello everyone!
I figured it's about time for me to introduce myself.
I am 19 years old and from New York. I am 5'3" and weigh 203.4 pounds. I am aiming for a weight of about 130. As much as I would like to achieve that goal by the time I go back to college at the end of August, I do not foresee that being a realistic goal. That being said, I would like to be down to at least 160 before I go back, so that means a loss of about 3 pounds per week.
I am looking for some support, but be warned: I'm difficult to motivate. I've tried to lose weight before, gave up after a few days, and then ended up gaining more weight.
I say I'm difficult to motivate. One reason, I am absolutely addicted to sweets. In fact, I am craving a big bag of Swedish fish or Fruity Pebbles, or something right now. Another reason, I fear exercise. Its not that I hate it; I fear it. I have a rare genetic condition that has the potential to cause me a lot of pain simply by standing up. I say I fear exercise because it is unpredictable whether or not an activity will cause me long term pain. I often fight through pain when doing things and have regretted it more often than not. I do something, it hurts, I keep going, it ends up causing sever damage, and then I can hardly move for weeks. I don't know when to stop. This is typically when my motivation stops.
That pain, however, is the precise reason I want to lose weight; by losing weight, I put less stress on my joints and will hopefully not have as many days filled with pain.

Thanks for taking the time to read all of this.

You have to find your own motivation. No one can do it for you. :) You can have those sweets, though. Just make sure they fit in your calorie goal. :) And exercise will help give you more calories to consume BUT it is not necessary to lose weight. Consume less calories than you expend, and your weight will decrease. AS to exercise, just going on walks is a GREAT exercise. Good luck!

    Hi KN,

Good luck on your new venture....it can be a difficult one, however, it is for you and no one else you are trying to lose weight for. We are all in the same boat. Have you tried swimming? It is one of the best forms of exercise, no pressure on the joints. Good luck to you and keep the faith...one step at a time.

Right on about weight and joint stress. I am dealing with that now too. As for the sugar cravings, they pretty much disappear when sugar is removed from the diet. Not so easy to do so take all the support you can get. Nice to meet you!
