Not losing weight

I don't know whats wrong. I'm burning 4,000 calories a day and eating less than 1,500. I'm only losing a half pound to a pound a week. I measure and I'm not losing any inches. I've had blood work done and everything is ok. I'm working really hard to lose this weight. I workout at the gym with weighs four times a week for 2 hours at a time than walk five miles a day the other three. Can anyone help? I'm starting to get discouraged.

  • You must not be eating and burning that much. Eat around 2000 and try take it slower with exercise
There is no such thing as starvation mode when you eat what's recommended but exercise,
    Eating that much isn't starving.
    I am face-palming so hard..

First of all, half a lb to 1lb per week is a good rate to lose weight, well done!

Secondly, it is unlikely that you are really in a deficit of 2500 calories every day. How did you get this number? Are you logging everything you eat using a food scale and using a heart rate monitor for your exercise calories and daily expenditure?

A 2500 calorie daily deficit is a huge (and unhealthy) goal. Figure out what the actual numbers are first (you might want to open up your diary so people can give you some good advice), then aim for a 500 calorie deficit for a 1lb loss per week.

Finally, just a warning, you're about to have a bunch of people tell you that you are in 'starvation mode'. Read this http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/starvation-mode/

Agree with the above. With 27 pounds to lose, 1/2 to 1 pound a week is right on target. However, burning 4000 calories a day seems insane! What are you doing to get that burn rate? Are you getting that number from the MFP database? Because it's notoriously generous with calorie burns. Same with digital readouts on the machines at the gym. I'd be suspicious of that number if I were you. And on the off chance that you ARE burning that much, you really should eat more, or else you'll be burning muscle mass instead of fat. Good luck!
