i did a very strenuous run today and im constantly feeling hungry so im just eating lots of fruit. i had a small dinner too. ive eaten loads of strawberries, mango and i had an apple. im also going to have some mango now. i know fruit has calories but ive been told it's the quality of the calories. i binged yesterday in hope it would shock my body and speed up my weight loss. ive tried not to eat too many calories today, but this evening ive just been so hungry after my run. is too much fruit bad? i'll have had around 1800-2000 calories today. i burnt a lot of calories on my run. maybe up to 700. i dont know how many calories running for an hour burns. should you restrict a lot the day after a binge?

I do say too much fruit is bad for me.
Most fruit won't suppress hunger for long. Hunger pangs usually mean you have lower blood sugar, so fruit/carbs will quickly address that and perhaps initiate an insulin spike that will crash blood sugar again, making you hungry again. It would help you avoid hunger to eat the fruit BEFORE you run, and water before or during the run.
Meat, fish, eggs by themselves will prevent blood sugar crashes and prevent hunger pangs. Peanut butter also works for me.
MFP has an exercise calculator for various activities and durations that can tell you what you burned, and even include it in your diary.
about "restricting" - not IMO. I try to make the weekly calories balance out to my goal or less. One-day excesses have not be a problem. I do log pretty much everything more than a stick of gum.0 -
As long as you aren't diabetic, carbs aren't as big of a deal per say. The problem is that fruit does not fill you up and leaves you hungry in a short while. You really need protein and fats to go with those carbs.
Banana slices with peanut butter, apple slices with cheese, berries with greek yogurt are all good examples of a more balanced snack. I love hard boiled eggs for a quick protein fix. Low fat milk plain or with a scoop of protein powder will work too. Protein slows down metabolism of the carbs, prevents the sugar spike and keeps you feeling full.0 -
Don't eat fruit to the exclusion of foods with protein and fats but there's nothing wrong with a good amount of fruit each day. And no, you don't need to punish yourself after a binge. Just move on. Incidentally, is your goal to only net 1100 to 1200 a day? If so, and you're not already quite small, then you may want to consider that low goal as one reason you find yourself binging. It's much better to set a reasonable goal and stick with it.0

There's no reason to restrict yourself after a binge. Try to learn why it happened, and move on. Fruit will not shock or body or raise your metabolism, or whatever you said. but there's nothing wrong with eating fruit if you like it.0
