20 pounds by february 1st?
i think thats impossible!0 -
That's not healthy, even if it were physically possible.0
-
Its only 5 pounds a week which is perfectly healthy if you concider water weight loss metabolic rate and calorie reduction0
-
elaborate, pls0
-
I'm not sure if you know what healthy is.0
-
uh yes i do know hat healthy is.
betwwen the ages of 18 to 30 our metabolism is on over drive to begin with but also if we drink over 8 glasses of water it flushes the fat out rather quickly as long as you eat right also.
I know EXACTLY what im talking about0 -
sure you do.0
-
get real.
according to your theory, everyone here would be losing 20 pounds a month. i'm pretty sure everyone here eats right and drinks tons of water, and are still struggling one way or another.
according to your theory, i would weigh 100 pounds right now.
please educate yourself before claiming how sure you are of yourself.0 -

Eeek! I can't lose that much in a month. I only have 25 to go. haha But I'll join your little group to see if I can lose 10!!!0
-
So, just to be the nerd I am... There are only 25 days until February 1st. Which means you'd have to lose on average 0.8 pounds a day or 5.6 pounds a week. :noway:
Maybe you should try to shoot for something more achievable, like 2-3 pounds a week. (Still over faster than the usually suggested 1-2 pounds a week, like you wanted.) It just sounds like your goal is setting you up to fail… wouldn’t you rather have a more attainable goal and if you go beyond it an extra yippy for you?
Good luck with your weighloss and I hope you are able to "lose weight the right way," like you state in your profile :flowerforyou:0 -
And quit harrassing her! This is a SUPPORT board, not a harrassment board!0
-
I'll join your challenge but I'm gonna shoot for 10 lbs by Feb.0

how can i support someone who's clearly misinformed? i asked for an explanation on how one can lose 20 lbs in a month and i didn't get one.

SERIOUSLY IM SICK OF THIS!
MY DOCTOR TOLD ME IT WAS PERFECTLY HEALTHY FOR A WOMAN OF MY AGE AND STATURE TO LOSE 20 LBS IN A MONTH0 -
well if your doctor says so then you might as well go for it!!!!!!!!!!
best of luck lol0 -
honey, i am so glad you are trying to recover from anorexia! i am sure your doctor would not advocate for you to lose 5 pounds a week knowing your past history with controling food and starving yourself.
i hope and pray you will start loving yourself - one of the best ways i know how to love myself is to take care of my body. by take care of my body, i mean i treat it gently and with respect. i fear that you are setting yourself up for failure and to feel worse about yourself, not to mention falling back into old bad habits.

MY DOCTOR TOLD ME IT WAS PERFECTLY HEALTHY FOR A WOMAN OF MY AGE AND STATURE TO LOSE 20 LBS IN A MONTH
My brother is a physical trainer, and I have seen several doctors and weight loss specialists over the past few years (I've suffered from eating disorders as well...anorexia, bulimia...that kind of fun *kitten*) and not one of them have ever recommended that I lose more than 2-3 pounds a week.
And a little side note here...... water does not/can not 'flush out fat'....all it does is help wash out excess sodium in your body (and the extra sodium makes you retain water, hence the term 'water weight'..) And water weight only takes a couple days to lose after you increase your water intake and reduce your sodium a little bit. Then after that, it's gone as long as you keep sucking down water.
Some of the best advice I have ever been given was to just take care of my body and try to live in a more health-conscious way, and to just let any weight loss that comes be considered a "bonus" to living a healthier lifestyle. If you are able to change your mindset to reflect that piece of advice, you wouldn't even BELIEVE how your perspective of the entire world can change..
Best of luck to you. I hope you can find peace and happiness within yourself, no matter what weight you're at.0 -

lame.
The way you guys went about it was demeaning and rude like you were talking AT her, not to her. This site is for support, information given in a comfortable setting and learning about yourself and what you put in your body. And you're still being rude and childish.
Anyway. To the point........ Neither the doctor OR the original poster sound misinformed. I think it can be perfectly healthy to lose that much a month if you are above 200. For me, it would be like I'm not eating if I lost that much in a month. Perhaps her doctor told her that it CAN be perfectly healthy to lost that much in a month. Don't knock it until you know the deets! That's all I'm saying. You could have been reasonable and told her nicely that losing that much in a month wasn't optimal for most people.0 -

I don't think my post was demeaning or rude. I think I stated in a supporting tone that she may want to reassess her goals. I also looked at MarilynMarie profile and posts in other threads to get "the deets!"
Here's the details I found that make me very concerned about MarilynMarie's 20 pounds in 25 days goal:
-From Profile: She's a recovering Anorexic
-From "Do you eat all the 1220 Cal/day?? " thread "I will admit I BARELY eat 1000 calories and it is very bad aside from your body storing fat also you WILL binge I know I have"
-From "What's your New Year's Resolution?" thread "1. burn 10,000 calories a week"
-From Profile: "I have never loved myself and i would like to finally start"
I just worry this lofty goal combined with minimal calories and maximum exercise may trigger her eating disorder.0 -

Well said! You beat me to it last night sticking up for her & but I do believe that the way they were going back and forth with her demanding answers was rude, uncalled for, & childish! If that's what she wants to do then that's her decision.0 -

I don't think she means you I think she means the other too ladies who were going back and forth with her. I think you meant what you said in a meaningful way & wasn't trying to be rude in anyway!0 -
Alright, I think everyone should stop arguing about MarilynMarie and posting her personal information for everyone to see! I am willing to join this group IF the goal is lowered. I think losing 5 pounds by February 1st is feasible, so that's what I'll do.0

Exactly! If she's wrong, then she'll find out soon enough, just step off the high horse and quit being a child.0
