I went to New York City last October.
I only got to stay for about six hours.
My little Cousin works there and she took us to lunch.

Heartland Brewery. It is close to the East River ferry. I actually had really good gumbo there.

Please keep in mind that this was my first (and only so far) trip to New York. I am a Florida boy.

I live in NYC and the food options are diverse, and glorious! I stay away from theater district and the tourist areas if possible to get cheaper, more authentic options. My friend just came by for a 4 day weekend, and I'll give you the same recommendations that I gave to him.

K Town- 32nd street between 5th and 6th, some of the best korean food, BBQ, night clubs, etc. Open late too!
East village- Pylo (Greek sit down), Giano (Italian), Stanton Social (a little more lower east side and $$$$ but awesome)
Midtown- Hatsuhana (Sushi), El Parador Cafe (Mexican)

And not food, but a place called New York Vinters offers wine classes and also wine/food pairing classes. I just went to a wine/brunch class and it was amazing!

Also, I recommend the pizza and bagels. You'd be hard pressed to find a bad place as long as you stay away from big chains.

    Hope this helps!

between 7pm and 7am. 53rd and 6th in Manhattan at the Halaal Guy's food cart for chicken and rice.

You haven't lived until you've had it.

    Bohemian Hall Beer Garden.
Cheap, excellent beer, good food and you can sit outside in the summer.

Becco on W. 46th St. Try to get there after the pre-theater crowd. Amazing affordable wine list and pasta specials.

Take a walk on the High Line at sunset.

Go tasting Italian food/wine at Eataly on Madison Square Park.

Go ethnic anywhere: it's all good!!!
