Trying to have a 1,200 calorie diet but very picky eater.

Hello, I'm fairly new in MyFitnessPal.com. I heard good reviews about this website and so here I am! Anyways, I'm trying to lose 50 pounds in 4- 5 months or so but I have no idea in how to accomplish this method. According to MyFitnessPal if I keep a 1,200 calorie diet I could lose 1.1 pound a week, which is great and all, however, I'm a very picky eater. I searched up diets, yet they all mention something similar such as tomatoes, fish, etc, etc. so I'm hoping someone out there would be nice enough to help me. Before answering, I don't like seafood, boiled chicken, turkey, ham (or any pork). Also I dislike onions, tomatoes, garlic, any purple vegetables (i.e eggplants) , celery, radishes, ranch dressing and well, you get the deal. Oh and rice (I can't eat rice)! Believe me, I tried all these foods before and I end up vomiting them out. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

So what do you eat on a normal basis? Sounds like probably carbs since you just listed off most lean proteins and a bunch of different types of vegetables0

There's a variety of things you can eat.
What you can do is go to your local health food store, like Trader Joes or Whole Foods Market and look around. Try different things out until you find what you like. Then figure out your calories after that. It's all about portion control once you figure out what you like and what you want to eat daily.0 -
Ok so the way I would start is with a list of 3 things you like for breakfast; 3 for lunch; 3 for dinner - then look them up on the food listings and find out the calorie counts. that will give you an idea of things that might work for you. So for an example breakfast for me I liked one kind of granola cereal; a sweet full fat yogurt.... well both were high for me; so I was able to convert to low fat yogurt - that helped then I figured out that I liked the non-fat plain if I smothered it in fresh fruit... that was getting the calories better; and the quantity higher... so then instead of a bowl of granola I could sprinkle a bit on top of each bite of yogurt/fruit mix...suddenly that with coffee and non-fat milk is my normal go to breakfast and it is under 300 calories... Basically focus on the stuff you like not the negatives... negatives tend to become excuses...
The other thing is you can exercise and log your exercise which will give you extra calories each day so if you exercise 200 calories worth a day then you can eat 1400 total calories each day and still lose.
I am not sure why you have the time frame you have; but this is a long journey for most of us- and lowering your amount to loose per week gives you more calories per day, and might make this seem less hard.0 -
I lost weight by eating what I love and just removing anything with ADDED SUGAR. I have been losing about half a pound a day since May 1st. This may sound easy but you would be surprise how much stuff has sugar in it...even medicine.
It could work for you if you can let go of the sweetness factor.0 -

Thank you so much for the replies everyone I appreciate it! Well, what I do eat on daily basis goes around something like this:
Breakfast: A cup of cereal, and a cup of milk. (I can't eat too much because my stomach tends to ache)
Lunch: It can either be beans, salsa, and about five tortillas.
Snack: yogurt/ fruit such as Apples, banana, grapes or pears/muffin
Dinner: two potatoes/ spaghetti and meatballs/ scrambled eggs / boiled eggs / ramen.
My food schedule changes though, but this is basically what I eat. On Mondays, my family and I order take out food such as Chinese food, Dominican food or pizza. The reason for my rapid increase in weight was because I used to skip breakfast and lunch. By the time I got home from school, I was desperate. By reading your comments, I will try to cut the sweeteners. And yes I agree with you Emily boiled chicken is bleh! XP0 -
Taste buds sometime need to be trained :0), from your diet you eat mostly carbs and not healty ones on top of it. Tortilla, pizza, pasta, ramen, etc are loaded with calories and now add the chinese take out and potatoes and the first thing you know you need to loose 50 pounds.
Try incorporating gradually vegetable in your diet, I dont care for cooked vegetable I prefer them raw. Same with fish cannot eat it cooked but love cerviche. Keep on trying new food you will eventually discover new taste and texture. At least for now until your universe gets bigger cut your portions of carb.
Best of luck0
