Um.
OK.
Diet soda, or as I call it, pop, isnt bad for ya.
If you like Diet Pop, best would be to drink that than picking up the habit of regular pop again.0 -
I happen to prefer the taste of diet sodas, because that's what I was brought up with. I try not to have it too often though, because even if it's low on sugar, it's full of chemicals.
However, I have a friend who doesn't like the taste of diet drinks, so like you, she has normal cola, the full sugar kind, but she treats it as a treat, in the same way she would chocolate or sweets, so just has one every so often when she's had a good cal day. She's lost weight this way, so it can work.0 -
just curious why you switched from diet (o cals) to regular (~150/can)?
is this an anti-aspartame thing or do you just enjoy regular soda (which in moderation is perfectly ok)?0 -
I use to drink regular sodas and then when I came to MFP I quit them cold turkey. It wasn't until 7 months later I had a soda again, and it was a diet soda. In that time, I discovered that the diet sodas that had an "after-taste" no longer have an after taste, and are actually really good. I also discovered that tea (like green tea, for example), which for my entire life tasted bitter to me, is now actually sweet.
All from quitting full sugar sodas. Go figure. I don't think there's anything wrong with drinking a regular soda every one in a while... but for me, I'd rather eat my calories than waste them on a soft drink. I still find it weird that my taste buds have changed so much.0 -
Have you tried sparkling water….lemon, lime, orange? It is 0 calories, no sugar, no artificial sweeteners. Contains water and CO2…bubbles!
(you do have to read the labels to be sure you are not getting the one with artificial sweeteners)0 -
FINALLY!
I'll get some sleep tonight.0 -
Iced tea with Stevia! Lipton has lots of cold brew flavors to choose from. Also, having a diet soda every once in a while won't kill you. Cold turkey is probably best though if you're a junkie (been there). You can add one back here and there once you've been without them for a few weeks if you want and it probably won't hurt anything.0

I, too, am not a fan of diet sodas. I am, however, a caffeine junkie so I will have occasionally if I get a headache. I find sparkling water to be the perfect substitute for me. Even my Coke-addicted SO drinks club-soda and juice.0

Why don't you try drinking sparkling water. It does have that fizzy feeling, no calories, no sugar and it keeps you feeling full. Personally, I add a slice of lemon and it becomes the perfect drink.0 -

Good. You may as well enjoy your soda. I'm not a big diet soda drinker because I think they taste yucky. However Diet Pepsi tastes less yuck than the others. But, If I'm goign to HAVE SODA then I have my yummy regular coke and enjoy it. Not daily, not even weekly, but sporadically. I love regular coke but it's one big sugar shot.
Moderation. Now if I could only do that with bread......(and I can, but yesterday, I chose not to.)0 -

Well, yes, I have to concur, Diet Coke with flavor is much better than regular Diet Coke.0 -

I'm just insulted that someone could ever look at a picture of Coke Zero and think it could ever live up to the gloriousness that is Diet Coke...0 -
I only drink caffeine free Diet Coke, I wouldn't put all that sugar and caffeine in my body. It seems counter productive to a healthy lifestyle.0

Never have I wanted anything more than this. Cherry Coke was my biggest thing before I stopped drinking regular sodas and it's the one I miss the most (not even Mountain Dew!).0 -
