My dad almost made me cry today

I posted about my weight loss on Facebook for the first time this morning and received a bunch of praising comments from people. Later on, my dad and I took our dogs for a walk and were talking. He said, "I meant what I posted. You've inspired me to take better care of myself, walk more, eat less." It almost brought me to tears. He just turned 60, has been dealing with type II diabetes since 1997, and nearly died from surgery complications three years ago and spent three months hospitalized due to it. It's strange, because my brother has lost weight over the past couple years as well but that had no effect, just my path.

That's great Malibu! How wonderful that at last he has been moved to doing something about his own health.. and good for you that you've kept to your decision to lose weight and eat healthily!

That's amazing! Sometimes all people need is a good example or some other little push at the right time to have that mental 'click' happen.

That's wonderful!!! I hope he really takes care of himself. My dad is turning 62 in less than a month and is a heart patient (had a heart attack in 2001) and I worry about him. I hope seeing me go to the fitness center and making healthier choices influences him some to get back into being healthier himself, he used to be very religious about it. I totally understand where you're coming from and am happy for you and your dad!
