Eminem's "I'm Not Afraid" is my latest obsession. This may seem a little cheesy for some of you, unless you can identify with a lifetime of disordered eating and an unhealthy need to punish your body to feel control or loved.

I don't really like the language in the song because I would hate my kids to know I listen to it, but these particular lyrics really speak to me and my journey into eating disorders hell and trying to get clean from the demons in my head that have been screaming at me since I was 15. My daughter is now 15 and I know how strong a mother's influence is on her daughter. I'm doing this for the 39 year old me, the 15 year old me, and for my 15 year old daughter. I'm trying to be clean from disordered eating. I'm not afraid.

"...But it's time to exorcise these demons
These [expletive] are doing jumping jacks now!

I'm not afraid to take a stand
    Everybody come take my hand
We'll walk this road together, through the storm
    Whatever weather, cold or warm
Just let you know that, you're not alone
Holla if you feel that you've been down the same road

And I just can't keep living this way
So starting today, I'm breaking out of this cage
I'm standing up, Imma face my demons
I'm manning up, Imma hold my ground
I've had enough, now I'm so fed up
Time to put my life back together right now

It was my decision to get clean, I did it for me
Admittedly I probably did it subliminally for you
So I could come back a brand new me, you helped see me through..."

If anyone else identifies with this, friend me. It's a journey. I'm not there yet, but I am trying. Everyone here is teaching me a lot about how to be healthy instead of how to be skinny and how to have a healthy attitude about food instead of an obsession.

Sorry if that was cheesy. I'm sure this thread was supposed to be a little less serious. :) Music does that to me though. It speaks to my spirit sometimes.

I've had that L7 song "Pretend That We're Dead" stuck in my head for almost a week now. I like the song, but I sure wish it would go away now.

More - Sisters of Mercy. It's an old one, but it just "tastes" so good to me right now.

Unfortunately it is Young Thug in general, specifically Treasure and Florida Water. I think my friends are planning an intervention.
