Need some advice on how to stay motivated! I have gained 10 pounds in the past year-- I want it off, and off now! I have recently tried weight watchers. I always felt hungry; it was not working for me. So now I'm trying to track my calories and I joined the gym last Friday. I have been doing well for the past 2 days. I tend to do well during the week and then blow it on the weekends. Any advice is welcome. I want to do it this time!

Hello! I know how you feel about being really well disciplined and caving on the weekend! Yo-yo dieted over four stone about 4 times and I've only just learnt that consistency and a LOT of planning is the key for me.
I've made a target spreadsheet for each week, ticking off say four cardio sessions, three strength workouts, or planning meals! I might be a little obsessed but when it's all planned and I can incorporate a lot of small snacks I rarely go over just an idea! Good luck0 -
Eat 6 small meals a day or every 3 hrs stops the hunger and moves the metabolism, I am a guy so I eat more calories than you hopefully another young lady can help you with calories but Chicken, turkey, fish, are good proteins steamed broccoli brussell sprouts spinach are good greens sweet potato, brown rice are good carbs find the right mix for you and you will kill that 10 lbs no problem. Oh yea drink plenty of water and less soda soda's are high in salt and will make you retain water. I wish you luck hit me with a friend request I will help you when I can :bigsmile: :bigsmile:0

I've found motivation by doing several things. I get inspired and motivated by reading the success stories of others and offering positive comments to those seeking motivation and support. When I feel my motivation flagging in the evening, I get on here and read the success stories to remind myself of the journey. I've also set a goal to cycle 150 miles for the Philadelphia Ride to Victory. This evening was a bit tough ... I wanted to go to the nearest bar, eat wings and fries, and suck down beer. That may be what my head wants but my heart and body sure don't want that. So I come to inspire others! :happy:0

Hi! Newbie here as well. I too need a little extra motivation. I decided to sign-up to run a 5K race, and did a training plan on Endomondo so that got me to actually start running. At first it was hard, but now I look forward to my workouts because I have been seeing progress. Not so much on the weight loss side, but I have built up endurance. Now I am working on running faster since I am still technically at a jogging speed.
I love to snack on crispy, salty things, so that is my biggest challenge!:happy:

After bouncing around with my weight, and on/off with weight watchers....I finally figured out my macros. My body really likes protein and really doesn't like sodium.
Don't get me wrong I still track everything however I know that if I eat carb loaded or sodium (salt) loaded, I will be famished again within an hour. Protein stays with me much longer.
I also do a lot of planning which helps cravings cause I keep snacks I have prepared with me at all times. I do plan to eat something about every 3 hours.
An opportunity, that I learned after failing---drink a lot of water. I mean a lot of water. I typically drink about 14 glasses per day. I start my morning with 2 glasses (a water bottle) for my morning meds. It helps determine hunger from thirst. Many of us (me as a nurse) never had time to pee at work learned to NEVER EVER EVER drink cause that would mean making time to use the bathroom.0 -
What always helps me is trying to plan your meals on days off or weekends and stick to it. That way your not sabotaging all your hard work throughout the week!!0

Thank you so much everyone!! Every tip has been helpful! What I'm realizing is that joining the gym was the best thing that I could have done! It mentally clears my mind, burns those calories, and am able to suck down those beers (once in a while). It'll just mean more time at the gym the next day! Which will be worth it!
Giddyduck, how do you get around not being able to go to the bathroom all day?! I ask because I am on my summer break before my last semester of nursing school! Hence, why I gained 10 pounds in the past year!0
