GOALLLLL!!!!!!!

My before and after picture. In my before picture I had already lost about 15 pounds. In January of 2012 God pressed my panic button. I was extremely out of shape. I could not climb a flight of stairs or even read a book to my kids without being out of breath. I watched my mom die of cancer at just 65 years old obese at over 300 pounds with diabetes and high blood pressure. God told me this was my fate too if I allowed it and continued going down the current road I was on. So literally the day I stepped on the scale weighing in at 220 pounds and a size 20w I came up with plans and goals and started down another road. I started working out and eating healthier. The weight loss has been slow, but I've gained a lot of muscle. I don't follow a certain diet plan except doing my best to make the healthiest choice at that moment for that meal and log calories on my fitness pal. I never entered a gym until I had lost 60 pounds. I've had injuries and set backs bad days/weeks, but I never quit. I just pick up and carry on. My motto has been hard work:determination. ..without hard work you will lose determination and without determination you will not do the hard work. My fitness goals have changed as my stamina and strength have changed, but I tell everyone start small start somewhere just START! Along the way the hard work has surfaced bad experiences, memories and thought processes. I can't write my transformation without writing about my faith. All those bad things that surfaced was taken care of by my Lord who comforted and healed me and showed me a new way a better way! I am most thankful to Him for giving me strength to physically do things and mentally tackling those things that needed addressed. He showed me I was stuffing all those things down with food. I am now 155, do crossfit, run 5ks and enjoy life the good and the bad! I am so thankful at this new life I have. I am in the process of thanking those who have impacted me. I truly couldn't have done it without mfp! And I hope the pictures come through!!!

Today holding up the 65lbs I've lost. It felt good to throw it down.

How awesome for you! I have a similar story to yours, and interestingly enough, i started around the same weight as you and am now about the same weight as you! I also got scared into becoming healthy. Doctor told me I was pre-diabetic and I also had high cholesterol. My whole family is diabetic and has heart disease, cancer, and everything else, it seems. I just told myself there were no more excuses, and I started. Like you said, just start. I remember my first days, walking down the block was a big achievement. Then, i walked around the block. Then, I joined a gym and started on the elliptical and bike, which didn't hurt my bad back as much. I've built up from there. I also don't follow a "diet" but just log everything I put in my mouth and try to make the healthiest choices I can. I'm not eating un-processed foods all the time like I should, but I do the best I can with what I have. I could do better there and am trying to find more to eat that I like. Anyway, congrats on your wonderful success and I'm very happy to know that you're so much healthier and have a rich, full life ahead of you!
