REVIEW LG Lifeband Touch and Heart Rate Monitor Earphones

In the past I've shared a few of my reviews on products here on these forums. I'm a huge MFP user and advocate, and I really like to share my experiences. Here is my latest review/thoughts on the new LG Lifeband hardware:

I'd really love to give it a further/deeper review if they can produce a device that is able to fit my wrist properly. For now my Fitbit Flex will remain my device of choice, but for those with deep enough pockets for the cost of the LG, it seems like a great combo device for the athlete, or fitness conscious consumer!

Nice review! I use the Lifeband with a Nexus 5 Andorid phone and caller ID and test notifications work as promised. Hopefully LG makes it clear enough for potential iOs users that functionality is kind of limited with Apple devices.

I do have the medium size Lifeband and it fits my wrist well. But I can fully understand that it might be very uncomfortable to wear if it is too large.

You mentioned that you got in touch with LG and that you received a quick reply. I'd love to know how to do that as I have discovered an issue or two that the developers might want to fix. Especially one seems to be quite significant. I tracked a workout with the Lifeband/LG Fitness app (running 10 k outside). As well as having the LG app track the run I used Endomondo Pro at the same time. Endomondo tracked the run as 7 km long. The LG app just counted 6.1 km, but shows the same track on its in-app minimap. From Endomondo I exported the track as a gpx-file to analyze it and it is in fact 7 km long. So something is not right (yet) with the LG app.

I understand that the Lifeband is fresh on the market and LG hopefully works on improving it. Today i received the first software update of the app plus a firmware update for the Lifeband. Other than a new font for the Lifeband's Oled diplay I cannot see differences as of now.

You can reach LG customer service via their web site. I just followed the links and sent an online email inquiry. You can also call them at toll free # 800-243-0000 if you prefer. Either way, reaching LG should be simple enough.

FWIW, it seems users expected more than just names, too. Another person with a Moto X tested and when a new text or call arrives it shows the name of the person but not the text of the SMS. Are your results concurrent with that? I'm guessing that is a good thing (better than mine, which was calls-only and icon-only, no names). Still I think the Samsung Galaxy Fit will offer better versatility for the "smart phone" capabilities even though I think the LG stuff will be better for exercise? who knows....

Anyhow, good luck reaching out to LG ... glad you're enjoying the device. Hope they create a Small version for my tiny wrists soon hahahah!!! - Ari

Yes, it is the same here. And it is exactly what I expected it to do. Imho it would be a pain to get the whole test message onto the tiny screen. What I would wish for is that LG incorporates the possibility to include notification not only for text messages but also for WhatsApp, Facebook messenger etc. Preferably with the option to turn switch on and off notifications for individual apps.

All in all, I'm still happy with the Lifeband Touch. And for my Smartwatch needs...: I'm waiting for the Moto 360.
