Life events. Fell off the wagon

for me it has always boiled down to 2 options. Get up, dust myself off and get back on the wagon OR stay there watching the wagon ride off into the sunset without me while I lie wounded in Sucksville hoping for someone to drive by in another wagon. (unlikely)
Life happens, good and bad. And trust me, there has been been some epically bad stuff but at the end of it, I refuse to let whatever it is be the thing that finally sinks my boat. I want to go out in a blaze of glory doing something I love and definitely NOT by being a hit and run victim of life's wagon.
When you have a bad day and it all gets too much, go and look in the mirror. That's when you will realize that your success rate for getting through bad patches so far is 100% cos you're still standing. And 100% success rate is pretty damn good by anyone's standards :-) Soldier on, one foot in front of the other. Sucksville isn't that big a place, you'll be outta there in no time0 -
For me, I had to have my boyfriend literally be at the gym with me for two weeks til I finally got back into the routine...then once it becomes a routine, it builds to be a habit. and once it's a habit, it transforms your body and you see results.
take one step: put your gym clothes on
that always always always gets me out the door and to the gym. Once I put my sneakers on, I go. it's like an automatic.0 -

There are no magic pills. Only hard work and dedication. It's about moderation not deprivation. There are no good/bad foods, only bad eating habits. Do or do not, there is no try. You have to want it, you have to work for it, you have to realize that only you can do it.

If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal0 -

I know this feeling. Still going though life events now but the challenge is to get it done inspite of. Things come and go, just have to keep on rolling. Dust yourself off and push on! We must be determined. This race is a marathon and not a sprint, the goal is to finish.0

Also, I picked a gym that is close to my office, and I packed more than one set of tee shirts/shorts in the car: no more excuse not to go!:sad:0 -
One step, one thing, one day at a time. You can do it! I started back just by logging everything. Then, one day I went for a run. Not wanting to lose THAT progress got me out the next day, and so on. You can do this! Do it for you :flowerforyou:0

hey, i was wondering the same thing today! i just got back from a crazy trip and reeeeally fell off the wagon. i feel like crap - that's what is motivating me to get back on the wagon, as i was feeling pretty great until a week or so ago. i really prefer feeling pretty great to feeling like crap. good luck to you!0

One of my best friends weddings is coming up. I don't want to look like crap in that album for the next 60 something years.
Too bad it's in two weeks and I just got back started again.
Staying on is hard, I was jobless and dealing with some personal issues. It cost nearly a year of work, but regret is a useless state.0 -
I have been back on the wagon for 7 weeks so far. I got back on because I got really tired of seeing such a high number on the scale. I figured, if I hated it so much, why don't I do something about it? So I did.0

I realized I was in the way of getting back on. I was letting my "inner child" drive the wagon too.....It was bothering me again that it seemed like everyone could eat anything anytime and not gain anything. I've felt like there were things I've always had to struggle at that others didn't have much of a challenge with - well, then I realized that everybody has something going on....and I don't need to know about it or care about it. I need to care about me enough to quit pointing my finger at others, and start pointing it at me.
I was listening to a song on the way home. Typically, I'm not the biggest Tom Petty fan. In fact, I'd say I'm pretty much not. BUT I found a song that I really like. "I won't back down.....You can stand me up at the gates of hell but I won't back down. .....Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out....I can't keep this world from dragging me down, but I won't back down...." Don't have them memorized all the way through, but those were things that have been ringing in my head the last couple of weeks.
This is the path that I'm on. I know what I need to do. I know who I need to partner with. Focus on the tasks at hand. Logging, drinking water, sitting less and moving more, and whatever I can do to put the odds in better favor than they were yesterday.0 -
I havent fallen off the wagon exactly. I'm kind of gripping to the back of it with my fingernails as it tries to warp speed away from me. But Im going with it! sometimes i get a foot back on it, then it comes off.
The best thing ive got to keep me going is that i enter running and obstacle course events. I need to have something to aim for, then i have a training plan. If i've got a plan, then i have to find a way to fit the training in. So i train more. When i'm sticking with a training plan my diet takes care of itself. Then i feel better and happier.0 -
For me life is an event and slipping up occurs.
I practice a lifestyle that allows it but I pick
myself up and try to improve after I feel I
made poor choices. Nothing is perfect but

Thank you for this post! I came in here this evening with the intent of deleting my account. Then I seen this topic on the forums on my side bar.. I clicked it and read the responses...
This last week was horrible at work with treats and stress (but when is there never stress at work??). There was donuts three days out of four, a coworker brought me my own bag of Gummy Bears (she knows this is my fav) and I ate the whole freaking bag in one day, and a resident doctor's wife made homemade white chocolate macadamia cookies (another fav) to bring to us. After a conversation with my darling, caring husband last night, it was pointed out strongly but gently that I am the ONLY ONE who can control what I eat to fuel my body. I am the ONLY ONE who can say NO to those who are "food pushers"! I am the ONLY ONE who can control my happiness and my weight!
Basically, I let one bad snack turn in to one bad meal, to turn in to one bad day, to turn in to one bad week (to quote another poster)!
I'm STAYING and getting CONTROL over this monster!0 -

you seem to be the person who will benefit with a flexible dieting approach ( IIFYM) research it here, you might be surprise to realize you dont have to say NO at all just eat in moderation0
