Is this enough exercise?

I'm going on day 7 of weight loss and I just want to get some opinions about my exercise level. I've been doing 30 minutes on the elliptical at high intensity and 30 minutes in the pool doing about 1000 yards. I throw in about 15 squats a day or 15 minutes of curls and lat pulldowns about every other day and I walk my dog abut 1 hour a day as well. Is this a good amount to start off with? I currently weigh 255. I'm eating around 1800 to 1900 a day in calories as well.

Hi I am in my first few days as well. To me you are very active. I wonder if you were always doing this much? I walk about an 1 hr very other day. Eat 1200 plus whatever is required to fill the exercise calorie0

More than enough!0

Sounds good to me! I walk about an hr a day and lift weights about 1/2 each day. I am supposed to eat 1200 cal a day, but I don't usually eat that much. I've lost 20 lbs in a month. So... stick with it and you'll do great!0

I know people who didn't exercise at all and were able to lose weight because they ate at a calorie deficit. I'm not knocking down your workout routine. I think it's great! However, know that if you want to get skinny- you do it in the kitchen.0

Sounds like you are owning it. Congratulations!
If you like the swimming I would keep that up as much as you can. It might be pretty obvious but the scale can be sort of a jerk sometimes so I find it really helps to keep fitness goals (like number of labs / time) as a criteria of success. On a week where you don't lose much, being able to look back at improvements you have made can make all the difference in staying motivated. And if you didn't make any progress you know to push a little harder or tweak the diet a little to ensure you are eating well enough to keep getting stronger better faster.
Plus if you keep track of real performance vs. just hoping in the pool for an hour, it makes it more like a workout than a comfortable swim.
Anyway, keep doing awesome!0 -
Sounds good, as long as that level isn't burning you out. Though at that weight I would expect you to need some more calories. Make sure you're not eating at 'too big' a deficit try and aim for 0.5 - 2.0lbs loss per week. I'm so happy to see someone eating above 1200 while they're exercising on here. You seem to be doing great though, make sure you're using those calories to fuel your body and you're right on point.0

Thanks for the feedback! I was fairly active before I started, so this isn't a drastic change as far as that goes. I have lost about 7 lbs this week, but I think a lot of it was water weight. I really appreciate hearing all your opinions!0
