Weight Loss Dilemma

Hi everyone,
I've been a long time lurker and avid user of MFP. Last summer I lost 20lbs with MFP and loved it. However, I was at an unhealthy weight and since I lost it so fast (about 2 months of dieting) I yo-yoed to 5 lbs heavier than my start weight.
This summer I have been dieting correctly and slowly, with no intention to be the weight I was last summer. However my dilemma is this:
I am at a point in my diet where my mother and friends say I look perfect and I shouldn't lose any more weight or else I will be too thin. However, I still have a good inch or maybe 1 1/4 inch of fat on my stomach as well as on my thighs. While I agree that if I lose much more weight (like any more than 3-5 lbs) it will be hard for me to maintain and get the nourishment I need as well as I will be too thin (my sternum is visible between my breasts, protruding ribs etc.) I really want to get rid of this last bit of fat but I don't want to be underweight again.
I need advice :P

Your "ideal body" is something that you are going to have to determine yourself. We each have varying opinions on what we find attractive, both in others and ourselves.
If you think it is right for you, you could continue losing weight and start strength training, which will fill out your muscles a bit in as little as a month, and then switch to a slight bulk for awhile to build a bit of muscle.
But again, it all depends on your personal goals.0 -
Yep, if you want to lower your body fat % you need to start building muscle - now here's the hard part - you're going to have to forget the scale. If you go through pictures of people who have cut their body fat% however, you will see a lot of them, while heavier than they started are actually smaller at their higher body weight because of how dense muscle is.

and strong lifts http://stronglifts.com/ is a fantastic program for weight training.
Good luck girl.0 -
I also suggest the weight training as a good way to recomp.
However, I personally don't like the look of upper ribs visible on a woman's chest/cleavage area. To me, that's too thin, but if you like that look, then more power to you.0 -

This^^ but if she's so concerned about that quarter of inch on the waist...I can see how she would freak out once staring "bulking"...people like her (or me for that matter) usually have hard time to face that...:(0 -
Running and swimming will take care of the bit of excess Tone the muscles and help you maintain your ideal weight. Both form long lean muscle rather than bulk muscle you get with weight training0
