riddle me this...about body measurements

So I took all my body measurements several months ago. About 12#'s ago actually, before people were noticing I was losing weight. I just took them again today, after losing 12#'s and getting compliments on my success so far. So obviously I know I am making progress.
However my measurements haven't changed! my clothes are fitting better, I am wearing outfits that I haven't worn in years. So I am not complaining by any means! Just confused I guess, as to how it could be that my body defiantly looks different, and feels different but the tape measure doesn't seem to see it!

Anyone else have this going on?

Much luv MFP'ers!!!

Yep! My waist is still 30 inches which really bugs me because when I was this weight before, my waist was around 28 inches. My hips are not going down anytime fast and my bust... well... lots there still. I am losing in my thighs and my calves. Very weird!

I have this same question, I've lost 15#'s and no movement on the measuring tape? Any other answers?

This is happening to me too. My measurements have barely budged, yet I've gone from 149 lbs to 141 lbs and down one pants size, from US women's 6/8 to 4/6. My friends have noticed that I look slimmer. But I swear to you that my measurements have not changed. I don't know why. I measure in the same place each time - waist, hips, upper thighs. I am not going to worry about it since my clothes are looser. But I'm left scratching my head over this.

I had this problem for a while. It was a geometry issue.

Gross, but: BELLY OVERHANG. A lot of my extra weight was on my belly and gravity pulled it down. As I lost fat, a lot of it came off this area, which ::technically:: belonged to my waist but geographically was located too low to be captured in the waist measurement (and wasn't entirely being captured in my hip measurement). As it melted away my weight dropped and my trousers got looser and looser through the waist and hips, but for several months my waist measurement stayed exactly the same, and my hip measurement dropped only a little.

Eventually I crossed a tipping point once a lot of that overhang was gone, and my waist size started dropping.

I'm not saying this is necessarily your issue (and I most likely had a lot more weight to lose than you do), but you might want to consider this. It's pretty common for women, particularly once we get old enough for flesh to start wanting to sag a bit.

logic would suggest that you are losing weight from places that you didnt measure
