Help with using fleece for animal bedding?

Hi everyone!

I know this is totally off topic for a fitness site, but I've been having some trouble with my pet guinea pigs' fleece bedding that I got a few days ago. If anyone has experience with using fleece as bedding for guinea pigs or hedgehogs, then you will probably understand what I mean. I had to wash the fleece I have 3-4 times in hot water so it can wick water quickly, and thankfully I haven't had a problem with that. The problem is the odor :( Its only been 2 days since i set the fleece up and its already stinking badly so I have no idea what to do. I read online (multiple times) that using 2 layers of Uhail blankets will be great for odor control and using pee pads under the pigloo and guinea pig hut. I currently have 1 layer of towel under the fleece, so maybe that's the problem? I'd love to hear from someone who is experienced with this or has had the same problem or uses fleece for their pets. Thank you so much in advance! I am very worried!!

Probably would be better suited in the off-topic forum, not "Motivation and Support." ;)

I second that. I would try, Chit Chat, Fun, and Games. But good luck on finding a solution! :flowerforyou:

I had a hamster and few rats when I was little. They did stink too I remember. My mom switched to some kind of wooden pellets, or whatever they are called, soft and comfy like a fleece bedding too. And then the smell stopped. Try different material?
