Hello there and Welcome to the site! This is a great place. This is my 8th day on here and I am feeling great! You never realize how many calories you eat in a day until you enter it all in. No wonder I got so big. Good luck to you on this weight loss journey. You can do this!!

aznladie82 this is my 8th day too! :-)

Queenlioness, My advice is as follows, take it or leave it, no worries!
    - Record what you eat and stay within your daily caloric goal
    - Cut down on fat your first month or so
    - Eliminate as much sugar as possible
    - Plan out your meals and try to eat every 3-4 hours so you're not ravenous
    - At breakfast eat 35% of your daily calories or "eat like a king"
    - Have a small snack in between breakfast and lunch about 100 calories OR 5% of your daily calories
    - At lunch eat 28% of your daily calories or "eat like a prince"
    - Have a small snack in between lunch and dinner about 100 calories OR 5% of your daily calories
    - At dinner eat 27% of your daily calories or "eat like a peasant
    - Exercise on a regular basis.
    - Mix up workout routines with cardio and strength training.
    - Drink lots of water
    - Sick to your health and fitness plan
    - Try to avoid "slip-ups" but don't beat yourself up about them. Remember tomorrow is a new day!
    - Utilize the fantastic support system here on myfitnesspal.
Yesterday I had a REAL bad hankerin' for the ice cold root beer in my fridge. Instead of drinking it I posted a cry for help on one of the message boards. I got a lot of encouragement and tips to help out and the root beer is still in the fridge! Above all stay the course, you've got a goal to meet and you're going to do it!

Hi! Welcome to the site! I'm a YMCA member myself! Love their facilities!

Couple of pieces of advice. Start recording what you eat in terms of calories, etc (MFP is great for that). Calculate the caloric intake you should have and then begin eliminating the foods that contribute negatively toward that. If you can drop it all cold turkey, even better, but I had take the slow road and eliminate a few things at a time: enriched flour, sugars, high fructose corn syrup, etc.

Next, get some exercise going (otherwise you're just making a monthly donation to the Y). Find something you enjoy doing and hit it. I'm sure you'll do well.

Take some measurements and pictures of yourself up front. This battle is usually won in ounces and inches, not in massive leaps and bounds in short periods of time. Continue to take pictures along the way.

    Best wishest to your success!

    Shawn
