What would you get, if you was having dinner at an "authentic" Mexican restaurant? My husband LOVES a local place, but of course I cant look up the nutritional value, so I need you guys to help me out. What about Chicken Fajitas without the rice/beans and all that they put on the sides? Last time I just got 3 hard shell taco's but those are so boring and probably not the best choice. I'm just looking for low(er) calories, not so much nutrition. it's the weekend after all, but I dont want to go way overboard. TIA!

How funny that I have the SAME problem. We also have a local authentic Mexican restaurant that I've been avoiding because I can't count calories there, and my husband loves the place and is missing it terribly. I'll be interested to see what others will have to say.0

Chicken Fajitas are a good choice if you skip the sour cream and guac and chips. The beans are good for you, lots of fiber which helps cut down on the net carbs from the tortilla shells and they contain NO fat if served naturally.0

Fajitas are a good bet, stay away from the beans, rice and sauce other than salsa0

If I was going to one of our local Mexican joints, I would order the Chicken Fajitas. Just eat 2 of the tortillas and ask for some shredded lettuce. Fill the tortillas with chicken, peppers, lettuce, pico and lots of salsa! Skip the CHIPS.0

You might want to check out the nutritional information for other Mexican restaurants as well. Get a feel for what is a good choice when you go Mexican as well as what is a bad idea.0

Thanks everyone! Fajitas it will be. We're getting it to go, so the chips and salsa will be bagged up. I always hand mine over to DH anyways so that wont be a problem, but I might keep the salsa for flavor since I cant have sour cream or guacamole-My 2 favorite things. lol0

If it is in house made guacamole you can have small portion made from avacados=healthy fats!0
