Hey guys!
I have a question, which I hope some of you experts can help me out with.
A little background first:
I've been logging on MFP for about 3 months now.. and ive been doing pretty well so far. I havent been finding it too difficult to keep a good balance between what I eat and how much I exercise.. and have been losing weight steadily. However, to kickstart my weight loss, I wanted to focus my exercise exclusively on cardio training in order to drop some weight before starting to strength train. I have recently (about 2 weeks ago) added a strength training program to my exercise routine -- its not super intense but i do it like 3-4 times a week on top of my daily cardio workouts (i switch muscle groups every time, so i go from doing legs/abs one day, then shoulders/arms the next and chest/back.. and so on) -- I am not new to strength training as I used to do alot of it before I piled on the weight!
anyway my question is, Since starting this strength training program, it has been REALLY hard to control my apetite, and I am having a really hard time keeping within my cal goal without feeling hungry, which never used to be the case when I was doing 100% cardio (i use the MFP system by the way -- my daily goal being set at 1300 and I add cals burned from exercise but I try not to eat them all back -- about half if I can), but right now its like if i dont eat them all back, i feel like Im starving. Is this normal when starting to strength train??
thanks for your input!!

Yes that is normal...esp with such low protien.
I looked at your diary and you don't eat a lot of protien...it helps keep you feeling fuller longer and helps repair the muscles after lifting.
Try to get in at least 1g of protien for each lb of Lean body mass or 0.8g per pound of body mass.
It sounds daunting and takes some planning but I get in at least 120g a day...esp while I lift.0 -
Did you up the amount of exercise you do without upping the amount of calories you take in? If so then it is no wonder that you feel hungry.0

no i didnt really up my calorie intake because my strength training is pretty mild. I do like 4-5 different exercises per session ((3 sets of 12-15 per) so nothing excessive! i think it might be the lack of protein thing...
thanks for your input though!0
