Obese guys, how many calories are you eating?

Stats: 21, 5'6", 260 lbs, eating under 1700 kcal per day. Good macros. Lots of protein and fiber. I'm finding I'm not hungry throughout the day. I will occasionally go to the gym and do the treadmill for distance at 3 mph, but that's all.
Been at this 2 weeks. First week I lost 4.6 lb (I attribute this to water), this week I lost 3 lb. Does that seem about right?

eat a little more, at least 1800 id say. its tough, i started out right about where you did, but too fast and you could do some damage to your body or end up with some loose skin once your done0

If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal, and
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal.
i would follow the above guidelines. You don't want to lose too fast or loose skin and muscle loss can be an issue. But if you include high protein or moderate protein and weight training, you can mitigate some of that.0 -
I'll bump it up 200 calories and play with it from there. Thanks for your suggestions.0

5'8", started at 246.5 around April 23rd, currently 240. Used this to estimate my TDEE and set my daily calorie goal: http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/
I try to eat between 1800 and 1900 a day. I've had a few days under 1800, and several days over...way over...two weekends ago had out of town guests and went nuts, but logged everything.0 -
For some perspective - I'm 5'9 and weigh 140, and I aim for more than (1,900) to maintain. Even I would lose weight on 1700 calories.
No need to rush - remember it's an overall lifestyle change to become accustomed to eating healthy amounts and (if you desire) include regular exercise. No need to have such a short-term results mindset.0 -
Thanks for the perspective! I love this community.
I'll aim for 1800-1900, +extra if I work out on that day.0 -
I think that's a good idea.
Remember you can always re-adjust if it's not working...calorie goals aren't necessarily a one-time static measurement. Try one thing, measure the results and adjust if necessary. Rinse & repeat ad nauseum.
Good luck on your journey - sounds like you have a great attitude!0
