Introducing myself, looking for support and motivation

I am 28 years old and have gradually gained weight over the past 10 years. 3 kids, and quitting smoking (20lb gain), and opening a pizzeria later I hit a top weight of 235. I'm only 5'4", not good. I have always been complacent with my health and weight, never really worrying about anything. However about 6 months ago, I decided to make a lifestyle change to see if I could feel any better. I started by limiting carbs drastically and cutting out diet soda and tea. I lost no weight by doing that although I did feel better. My next thought was to lose weight the "easy"way, so I tried a couple different products (Plexus Slim and Garcinia Cambogia) again I lost no weight, not one single pound! I was very discouraged and decided that if I'm going to be fat and lose no weight then I might as well be strong. I started working out in my living room daily, pushups, leg lifts, jumping jacks, lunges, squats, etc. Started walking some also. After a few days, I decided I would try jogging, a little ways at a time. I would walk the distance from one telephone pole to the next and then run one. Eventually I could run two, and walk one. At this point I'm feeling much healthier but still losing no weight! Fast forward a couple weeks, I finally lost 5 lbs, I think I have lost inches and gained muscle tone, I feel healthier than ever so far. But holy cow, I am DISCOURAGED! I have made drastic lifestyle changes to what I was doing. I am completely conscious of my food choices now. My goal is even small, I only am asking to get down to 200, and honestly I should be shooting for much less than that! I am in a wedding in October and I have ordered my dress 2 sizes small. That is approximately 20lbs (I think). HELP

I am currently in a similar situation, but its the last 15 pounds....

My advice would be to stay consistent with workouts and eating habits for awhile, like at least 3 weeks. Make sure you are eating the right amount of calories for weight loss. Maybe also try weighing and measuring your food to be exact on portion sizes as well. No extreme measures required :)

Congrats on your lifestyle change! DO NOT get discouraged. You've lost five lbs and you admitted to feeling more muscular and cardio improvements. Those are both big pieces of the puzzle that SO many people ignore in comparison to the scale. When you first start exercising and eating healthy your body goes through a lot of changes. It's not unusual for people to not lose weight until 2-3 months in. That's why a lot of workout programs are 90 days. Like you said you put on those pounds over 10 years, don't expect them to all fall off in a couple weeks. If you are looking for support send me a message.
