Non meat eater needs high protein suggestions!

Hi there,
I don't eat meat, just a little bit of fish, what are some suggestions out there for high protein foods and snacks (non meat) that are satisfying? Appreciate any and all suggestions! xo Jennifer

    Meat proteins contain the complete amino acid construction that makes it a higher quality protein. There are other sources of course but these contain the incomplete amino acid chains that make them less helpful than their complete animal counterparts... That being said, this does not mean that vegetarians and vegans are not capable of achieving their protein needs... it just means that it will be a bit harder ...

    Some examples:
    Fish (you said you do eat some), Poultry (Not sure whether you consider that an animal source)
    Beans
    peas
    peanut butter
    Protein shakes (some do not contain milk products if you are vegan)
    Protein bars
    many nuts

    Peanut Butter
    Nuts
    Fiber One Protein Bars (Coconut Almond is very good!)
    NutraGrain also has Oat bars that have about 4g of protein in them.
    Horizon Organic Milk (has about 8g of protein)
    Arnold Whole Wheat Hearty Hamburger buns taste great, very filling and have 12g of protein)
    Choubani Greek Yogurt is very tasty as well and has about 6g of protein
    If you like Pizza Papa Johns offers a Veggie Delight pizza that is about 280 cals but has 11 grams of protein. You can get the same amount of protein from large cheese slice as well for an extra 10 cals.

    The morningstar farms "sausage" patties are great tasting and have 10 g of protien. A nice little quick protein source.

    I would add cottage cheese. 13 grams for 1/2 a cup. I don't care for it by itself but with some cut up strawberries it is pretty good.

    i'm a vegetarian, too. for a protein boost, here's some foods i like -

    egg beaters or egg whites (and they're pretty much fat free, too)
    non-fat milk
    non-fat greek yogurt (Fage brand fat free yogurt has 23 grams per serving!)
    tempeh
    extra firm tofu
    sol cuisine veggie burgers (original)

    i'm allergic to wheat, but gardein and morningstar farms make a variety of higher protein veggie burgers - the gardein are even juicy, and my husband says they're the best.

    my husband starts every morning with a morningstar farms sausage - sometimes maple, sometimes regular and sometimes hot. they smell amazing!

    Try cottage cheese and beans, preferably not together. Pumpkin seeds, tofu, eggs if you eat them and yogurt/Greek yogurt are all high in protein. Cottage cheese, yougurt/Greek yougurt is very high and if you get the low fat it is another plus. Some people add a little cinnamon with cottage cheese. Maybe try some vegetarian chilli.

    In my daily/weekly menu, I'll usually have:
    Greek yoghurt pot = 12g protein (so many flavours!)
    Home made bean soup = 13g protein (I can msg recipe if interested)
    Hard boiled egg = 6g protein (not meat yet, anyway)
    Wheat germ = 4g protein (grandfather got me hooked at age 4)
    Shrimp (3oz) = 18g protein (you could even coat them with wheat germ and broil...mmm)

    You can find loads more online.

    Tilapia
    Eggs
    Boca Veggie patties (and the vegan option)

    Protein options that aren't considered lean
    Non-fat greek yogurt (carb intensive)
    Nuts (better amino acid profile/"good" fats): almonds, soy nuts, walnuts
    Peanut butter
    Almond butter
    Low-fat Milk
    Quinoa (only grain to offer a complete protein profile)
    Couscous
    black/kidney beans
    Salmon (fatty fish has a lot of omega fatty acids)
    Shrimp (higher in cholesterol)
    Cottage cheese
    Kashi Go Lean cereal (has as much protein as an egg/serving)
    Flax seed
    Chia seeds

    Silken tofu is great!! :) My favorite is morinu. 24 grams of protein for 200 calories of deliciousness!!
    You can use it in desserts, salads, main meals. You can blend it as a secret ingredient...
    The possibilities are endless.

    I am a veggie too. I really, really like the quorn products. They are made with mushrooms and no soy and they taste great. I use the crumbles, the chickn tenders, the chickn nuggets. I also love peanut butter but, prefer all natural. I eat Adams, I have to order it because it isn't carried where I live but, it is so worth it :) I buy the quorn products at Smith's, (which are Kroger other paces) whole foods also carries it as well as sprouts.

    Hey, I eat a TON of peanut butter. I'm constantly snacking on all kinds of nuts, too. I also try to have a protein shake everyday. Usually just consists of protein shake stuff and a ton of fruit and some yogurt and almondmilk. I'm a vegetarian also, so just message me if you have any other veggie related questions :)
