Quest bars - meal replacement or a snack? Also protein...

So I'm trying to maintain my current weight. (Height:165cm/Weight:50kg) And I eat around 1500-1700 calories a day. I'm also working out four times a week. I'm trying to up my protein intake (It's very low, so is my fat intake) and I just ordered Quest bars. They're high on calories, and my snacks between meals are usually fruits (apples, oranges, etc) so I was wondering do I replace one meal - like dinner or to replace a snack for quest bar? Also if anyone can recommend to me if with my statistics is it good to start drinking protein shakes and stuff? I've never tried, any good brands? Also soy protein or whey?
What about GNC Total Lean Shake?

  • I use them as meal replacements. Typically breakfast because the more I eat for breakfast the more I'll eat during the day. Light breakfast, light day. :)

I use them as meal replacements (usually lunch) with some fruit. Not every day though..usually 1 to 2 times a week. Also, sometimes just as a snack I'll have half of one..but I suupose find what works for you :-) They are incredibly filling (but very yummy)

Thanks, guys. What about protein shakes/powders? My proteins (and fats) are very low... Any ideas how to increase them, the healthy way?

I use them as an evening snack or for breakfast, but I don't use them as a replacement for lunch or dinner. When I have one for breakfast, I usually have an apple or a pear with it.

I use half a Quest bar as a snack i.e. with a coffee in the afternoon sometimes. It's a nice treat when I feel like something sweet.

I do sometimes use protein shakes as well, and have found the ASN Ladies Dream Protein is low fat/carbs. Also good in the shakes I make for breakfast. I find it overly sweet, but that's probably me, I'm not a huge sweet tooth!

I tend to use them as part of a meal, especially at work because I have no time! I'll have a quest bar with some fruit and some nuts and the protein keeps me full until I get home :)

I use them as snacks. I don't think it really matters how you eat them, as long as you stay under your calorie goal (and I don't see 200 calories as very high for a tasty treat, either). I don't ever snack on anything else, though. -shrug-

I use GNC Whebolic Extreme 60 ( 1 scoop only not 3) 93 Calories 20 grams protein. I use as meal replacement. I have also used lean body It does taste great.
Quest Bars I eat as meal replacement. I have recipes and make my own ( lots cheaper) I also make protein muffins, cookies and some other stuff (savory instead of sweet) using protein powder. Does 2 things, satisfy s sweet tooth If I am craving sweets and boosts my protein without a lot of extra calories.
Most of stuff I make (other than Quest) Has at least 8-12 grams of protein and under 110 calories ( usually around 80-90cals. :flowerforyou:
