Hi There,
I'm new to this site and have logged in for a full week to log all of my food intake and exercise faithfully!!! I have set up my food plan to loose 2 lbs a week, so I am only eating 1600 cal per day. I am a triathlete in training and have logged an extra 8000 cal PLUS this week in exercise. I have only lost 1.3 lbs this week!!! I know about the muscle gain thing, but I have been training for over one year now and have lost 40 lbs, BUT I have been at the same weight for over 6 months now and can't seem to loose any more! I thought that my eating habits were OK and that maybe I was over eating on the cal. and thats why I started to track my intake here on this site.
Am I expecting things to happen to quickly and need to give it more time? I always thought that if you do the numbers thing with the Cal. It would be a sure thing to loose weight!
What's going on!!
Thanks
Brian

a pound a week is very healthy weight loss...i say keep up the good work and it will keep coming off It sounds like you've been losing weight healthily over the last year...(52 weeks in a year...40 lbs lost) hang in there!0

You may be eating too few calories and your body is holding on to everything it gets. Especially if you are burning 8000 calories a week. 1.3 lbs is nothing to sniff at either. It's not like it is an exact science of eat this much burn that much lose this much.... it varies. Next week your loss could be bigger or smaller. Keep at it:)0

awesome! Congrats on the weightloss....you're doing good, a lb. a week is a good amount/healthy amount to lose. If we lose to fast it'll only come back on with friends.:grumble:0

I just did the math. If you are eating 1600 cal per day and logging 8000 burned per week, if you are eating your exercise calories, then you should be increasing your daily intake to about 2500 cal per day.
1600 x 7 days = 11200
add back in the 8000 cal you burned
11200 + 8000 = 19200
how much you should be eating if you are eating your exercise calories
19200 / 7 = 2742 cal per day that you should be eating
Assuming that you are not eating your exercise calories, you are leaving your body with a net of 457 cal per day
Your body is in starvation mode - all you are doing is killing yourself

A little dramatic, don't you think.
I agree that if you aren't eating your exercise calories you might not be getting enough.
1.3 loss is pretty good for a week.
I say play with your calories a little.
Add some protein, some healthy fats to up your calories a little.
Or talk to your trainer - assuming that with being a triathlete in training - you should have someone you can go to for advise on the food aspect too.
Good luck. You'll find the balance.

You might need more B12. My dr increased my B12 because I was not loosing weight and felt run down. It worked for me and I feel better.0
