Hello, I struggle with motivation and determination. Food is definitely my weakness. I need support and advice and ideas. If you could please add me as a friend and/or please tell me your story on how you are able to keep it moving.

The subject of your post made me laugh! I two have had about 4,562 day ones! And probably about 20,937 "I'll Start Tomorrow"s!!
I'll add you as a friend. We can keep it moving together!0 -
What I do has a direct impact on my kids' perception of the world and being healthy.
That's about all you need.0 -
I know just how you feel , every day is always a new day ! This is one of the best things I have gained off mfp , before I had bad weeks !!!! But just keep logging and trying your best life does get in the way , so just dust yourself down and get back up !!! Sending you a friend request !!!0

You are giving motivation too much power. You don't need to be motivated in order to succeed at your weight loss goals. You need a decision and commitment.

I am so with you on that one! Just remember every day is a new day. For me the challenge is realizing that just because I have a bad day - eat too much, don't exercise, or whatever, does not mean the diet is over and quit. Get back on it, refocus, and start again the next day! You can do this!0

you don't suffer lack of motivation you suffer from one excuse after another
truth is GROW UP
you know you NEED to do it for your health so just DO IT, motivated or not!!!!
you think people on here who have lost weight or re compositional their bodies were always "motivated"?! HELL NO!
Some days are hard, some days you feel like a failure, some days you miss goals, etc, but what we all have in common is a little bit of self love we managed to find in our journey so even when we don't WANT to keep going, we do.
You don't need "motivation", you need to stop making excuses, love yourself a little bit, get off the couch and eat some salad!
^^^ This, nicely said.
It's actually a pretty loving answer, just subtly so lol0 -
Friend request sent. Now, GET YOUR BUTT UP AND DO SOMETHING PHYSICAL! Push ups, squats, lunges. 20 of each and GO!0
-
you don't need motivation and determination.. you have to just do it anyways. make it a habit.. then you can find motivation to do more.. but for now just do it because you need to.
its that simple.
feel free to add me if you want.
my motivation (if you want to know) was because it freaking works. you get out of it what you put into it. i cant say every day i want to watch what i eat.. or that i want to exercise.. but i try to do it anyways.
accept that you will have slip ups and move past them as soon as they happen. don't just give up because something didnt work out as planned. good luck.
my story: i was 327lbs when i decided i needed to try this. i now weigh 166. thats almost HALF of my bodyweight. if i can do it.. surely you can.0 -

Get up again :-) When you fall just get up and get going...then when you fall get up and get going... My experience is that winners aren't people that never fall over, they are people that have got themselves back up and going one more time than they fell over. You really can do it. Just doing give up, losers are the people who don't get back up again after the last fall- feel free to add me if you want :-)0

Take it one day at a time. It may also help to only focus on one thing at a time. For example, work on adding exercise everyday like going walking. Then work on adding distance and/or time. Same thing with food: work on portion control, then work on adding fruits & veggies, etc. Basically it's building blocks and yes it will take a lot longer but you may find it easier to stick with it.
I'll add you so we can keep each other going!0 -
If you are in a cycle of starting and failing, what you need is not "support", what you need is to take a closer look inside yourself.
The answer won't be found externally...0 -
So many goddamn excuses.0
-
Some good advice here! I'll add some more.
Like what you do and eat. I see so many people struggle with extreme diets and exercise programs - it's really not necessary and will result in failure, ultimately. Be kind to yourself.
I wish you well :flowerforyou:0 -

trust me you can look at my food diary and see the days I don't feel "motivated" LOL
Love this!! Great accomplishment!
PS: We all have days where we don't feel motivated... hence the frosting I ate yesterday. It was the only thing that sounded good, and it fit in my calorie limits too!0 -
Today is also my millionth day 1. I love to eat, my love for food is what is expanding my waist line. I feel like a heroin addict sometimes, I know it's so easy to just get another fix. But I know I shouldn't. Like right now I'm in my car instead of in the grocery store with my grams because there is just too much temptation. I could easily grab something sweet for after dinner, after all this store has the best doughnut holes around! Or I could grab a pie. It's just so dang hard! So add me and we can keep each other from crossing back over to the dark side.0

I feel like it's Groundhog day every time I log in... I come in here with all my best intentions, follow for a day, a week, or a fortnight then loose my motivation again. I've logged on for the first time in weeks with the goal of setting some goals... and this time I decided to no go it alone but look at the forums! First thing I see is a kindred spirit who not only tweaked my funny bone (I love your title) but also made me feel less alone and less of a failure because others struggle too. Feel free to add me as a friend and we can see if we can't achieve together what we couldn't do alone.0

fall down, cry if you need to, get back up, brush off, start again. I quit smoking 7 years ago. sheesh, the number of tries it took! But I made it. Same thing with this battle. There will be bad days, try to keep it at days, much easier getting back into the swing of thing when its days rather than weeks or months. One day you'll look back at this and the struggle will all be but a memory.0

Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it's always your choice.

I too need help! I have a problem. I talk all day long about my weight, and wanting to lose it, and then one second later.... I'm eating. I started back on MFP just yesterday, and although, I'm trying to go with the calories, etc.... I'm 'not caring'... but I am! I hate that I can't stop myself.0

Just remember your body is on loan, look after it and you get to keep it longer, abuse it and it will be taken away from you. You have come to the right place for support and help. Good Luck0

A few things:
In your profile:
•Life is passing me by and I am not doing anything about it
In your profile:
Mother of 6
In your profile:
41 years old
What ended up motivating my 44 year old *kitten*?
I have an only child (a 12 year old boy). He's had 2 open heart surgeries with at least another to come. He's braver than I ever will be. I've been telling the world that I want to live to see him get to middle age, but was doing enough to ensure I would be dead at 50.
In the end, we are the results of the choices we make (good/bad). You choose your mate, you choose your political affiliation, you choose whether to use MFP and its tools, or not.
I chose the chance of a longer life over an early death.
Do this for you. But the side benefit is you'll reduce the chances of a premature death, which your children will likely appreciate.
Feel free to add me if you'd like
Whether you do or not? Be honest with yourself. What you need has to come from within, not without.0 -
Try to figure out what is causing you to lose focus. Are you depressed? Get treatment for it? Do you really have good reasons to lose? How will you benefit from weight loss? What will you lose besides weight if you lose weight?0
-
i struggle daily... i have lots to lose.. i have a mantra i tell myself on a daily basis... NO EXCUSES!!!
good luck to you.. feel free to add me0 -
When I think of how long my journey is ( need to lose 100 pounds total), it can be aggravating. I feel like it is going to take "forever". Then, I remind myself that " forever" (be it a year or two or more) is still going to go by whether I try to lose weight or not. What shape do I want to be in when that time inevitably goes by ( cause it will, no matter what I do). I just imagine how aggravated I will be after the time passes and I'm just as fat because I didn't have the patience to wait. Honestly, that is the easiest way for me to stay focused. I have always wanted to lose weight to look better, feel better, play with my kids, etc. , but time passing is the reality that keeps me grounded.0

Like quitting smoking, you make a choice every second of every day. Eventually, the seconds turn into minutes, hours, days then months. There is no end, it's continous. Somedays like craving a smoke, craving a favorite food will come on, it's time to choose. I tried to quit smoking many times. One day, I said, NO MORE! I've been smoke free for 26 years. Question is are you ready?0
