Preventing menstrual leaking in a personal training session?

I basically want to enquire on, any advice when it comes to preventing yourself from leaking during your menstrual cycle? I basically see a personal trainer 3 times a week, but I got my period 5 days earlier today and I have my personal training session tomorrow. I know myself, and today is very light as I expected it to be, but tomorrow and after tomorrow are going to be quite heavy and am considering skipping out on the session tomorrow and informed my trainer that it was a possibility but did not specify why I may not show up.
For a future reference, is there anyway of preventing leaking? I cannot use a tampon for now as I recently had a surgical procedure done (polyp removal from overy). So, is there anyway, to do this without a tampon? should I avoid tight workout leggings and go for something more baggy instead? anything else, you could suggest? I'm kind of shy about telling my male trainer, I'm on my period, am I turning a rock into a mountain about this or would he be uncomfortable if I mentioned it? but part of me thinks he probably deals with this with his female clients. Anyway, thanks for any advice you may have!

as soon as you can: Wear a menstrual cup.
seriously, no leaks (holds 2-3 tampon's worth) no smell, no chafing, no string, no TSS risk. haven't missed an exercise day during my period since!
there are over 30 different brands though so don't automatically buy a mooncup/divacup as they happen to be lower capacity.
I admin a couple of closed facebook menstrual cup support groups so happy to answer pm's or add people to the group https://www.facebook.com/groups/135522973313456/
cloth pads might be an option in the meantime, comfier and more absorbent.
edit: snug underwear and or snug shorts under your trousers might help keep everything in place and just change your pad right before you workout.0 -
Thanks for the quick response but I do not think I can use a menstrual cup if I cannot use a tampon. I was told I needed to wait a little longer just to be safe but I have only heard about these cups now and they sound great! I will definitely consider using them once I can. I never heard of cloth pads either but just googled them and they sound good too0

This is going to sound horrible, but it's what I do on my two heavy days of my cycle when exercising.. I use adult diapers and wear heavy sweats over them.0

I would just use a pad - I've gone to the gym and exercised with one on before and it's been perfectly fine. They're designed to take a lot without leakage so I'm sure it'd be alright. Just make sure that your undergarments are snug so you keep it all secure and you can still wear something like yoga pants overtop so long as you don't use one of those MASSIVE ones lol0
