Can 1860 calories be right??

Hi everyone, I'm Liz.

I recently had a baby and during my pregnancy I gained a lot of weight! I want to lose 2 lbs a week. It gave me a calorie allowance of 1860!! Yesterday when I was counting calories (also after a walk that added even more available calories) it just seemed like a lot?

Go back and make sure your goals are set correctly. Are you nursing? Does it even ask you that? I can't remember. Nursing moms require more calories. Without knowing your particulars, I agree that 1860 sounds high.

What are your height, weight and goal weight? Also, how are you tracking your calorie burns? MFP is notoriously high for workout calorie burns, so if you don't have a HRM, I would just use a percentage of the MFP estimate to make sure you're not eating too much.

I doubt 1860 would be too much, but I cannot say for sure. Just for reference, I am 5'1-ish, 178lbs and I eat anywhere from 1550-1750 a day depending on how many calories I burn. If you are much taller, weigh more, or are more active your calorie allowance will be higher.

Yeah we definitely need a lot more background to determine if you're eating enough/too much.

I'm 5'7" and I weigh 223 lbs. by goal weight is 135. I weighed 150 before getting pregnant, and I really want to get back down. My goal is to lose 2 lbs a week. I am also nursing. I have been working out, and with my workout included in my daily calorie allowance, I still didn't use over 700 calories yesterday.
