Hey,

I used to drink Dr.Pepper and Regular (Fat) Coke and enjoyed it. So, I was thinking I could switch this to the odd can of diet Coke. But, I have seen that a lot of you guys have given up diet Coke. I can't understand why (its got about 4 calories)..... Am I missing something?

:)

I dont drink very much of it because it's full of aspartame which is really not good for you.
Find a water you like, or buy sparkling water and add a cordial (no added sugar), much better for you.

Some studies have shown that drinking diet sodas may cause some people to eat more calories than they would've normally. It's also got chemical sweeteners, which aren't great for your health. Also, it won't hydrate you nearly as well as drinking water will.

That all being said, if your choices are between diet soda and regular soda, go with the diet soda instead, at least while you are trying to lose weight.

I don't really feel it makes me any more hungry (although I have heard this before.)

I was just wondering if having the odd can is really as bad for you as it's made out to be

can here or there is not going to kill you. I figure as long as I am getting in my required water as well then a can of diet coke won't hurt just to mix it up.

I've wondered about this too as I love diet pepsi, and love inputting it on here (say compared to fruit juice etc)!! But it does seem to get a lot of bad press and I have never really been sure why!!

I loved soda before I gave it up. I didn't think it made me eat more necessarily like studies say. For me it was the case of I lost more weight not drinking it than drinking it. The progress was easier. Also I noticed after giving it up that my skin started to look so much better and I had more energy. And my teeth feel and look so much better.

That being said, I don't think the odd can of soda is going to hinder you too much so enjoy it if you can't give it up, but if you can give it up you should. It's about doing an lifestyle change that you can live with.

Here's some information as to why most give it up from Water for Life USA website. http://waterforlifeusa.com/blog/uncategorized/8-ways-soda-fizzles-your-health/

I dont drink water, I cant afford bottled and my tap water tastes and smells like the swimming baths so its decaf black coffee and diet caffeine free drinks for me. I've always preferred the diet drinks anyway as the regular is too sweet. If its a choice of no drink, high sugar drinks or diet drinks then diet drinks are the way to go. I don't find they make me hungry, in fact the opposite is true with me, the gas leaves me full!

I gave it up because of the caffeine personally.Ssince I take caffeine as a supplement pre-workout, I didn't want to over saturate my body with it and get used to the levels when I wasn't working out.

The sodium and aspartame aren't amazing, but it isn't a huge deal in my opinion.
