Advice on losing weight from people who have succeeded

Hi all,
I am starting the T25 program tonight, which I was excited for but...
A few people are telling me that it’s the wrong exercise for my body type?
I am using this as a means of losing weight, as I have quite a few pounds to lose, this will be my first exercise / diet I will follow from not really doing anything. People have commented saying that I will bulk up and stay the same size? To me this sounds silly, but I think it may be nice to get some advice.
I am worried that I will start building muscle, and not really look the weight? I would like my frame to get smaller, and I'm not too interested in being really toned, just curvy without the lumps and bumps.
Has anyone has any success with the program for losing weight? Or if people have advice on another program which they feel is better for losing weight? Then please do tell!
Many thanks

Hi,
Firstly, what is your body type?
And also have the people who have told you this any idea about exercise? Trust me you won't bulk up unless you are in a calorie surplus. If you are eating at a deficit and doing T25 you will lose weight. 100%. You will not bulk anything. Except your attitude, pride, mood, self respect, etc.0 -
Weight loss is done in the kitchen. Toning and bulking are done in the gym.0

You will be fine, don't listen to those people saying you will "bulk up" does Tonya look bulked up? I had this program, but it was to much for me as a beginner (plus I'm older)---I think you will be fine. Good Luck to you!! > OTH Over the Hill0

I am rather big boned, so I'm not wanting to be tiny, but just lose the excess fat.
It was a couple of friends who, to be honest, probably don't.0 -
Also, I don't know why people are always saying you're going to bulk up. From what I've seen and read, it is a lot of hard work and dedication to bulk up.
As has been already stated, calorie deficit for weight loss, exercise for toning/strength. Good luck with the program!0 -
just do your thing. listen to those who are in the industry and/or have been there. as you're losing weight you may also want to tone your muscles. eat healthy & at a calorie deficit, drink lots of water, do whatever fitness program you want (you decided t25 which is great), and the rest will fall into place. also remember to be patient. this is a lifestyle, a marathon, not a sprint. it won't happen overnight.
you can do it!!! :flowerforyou:0 -
you wont bulk up doing cardio...0

LOL. I really think that you need to find a better source for your advice. It makes no sense at all.
You need 30 minutes of vigorous activity 5 days a week for health. Yes, it burns calories, but that benefit is secondary. Your body needs to move in order to stay healthy. If you are eating at a calorie deficit, I strongly recommend that you incorporate a progressive resistance program (either weight lifting or body weight exercises) so that you don't lose muscle mass. Many people get to their goal weight and are unsatisfied with their result because they appear flabby. Resistance training now is that answer for that. However, ANYTHING that gets you moving and is enjoyable for you is perfect.
Losing the lumps and bumps is a matter of calorie deficit, and there a number of reasons why you should do this slowly: 1/2 pound to 1 pound a week, unless you are very overweight.0 -
The perfect body type for T25 is the body you are looking to improve. I don't think there is such a thing as a wrong body type for fitness programs...the only question maybe your fitness level and if you can safely keep up with a high intensity program.
T25 is awesome, they modify so anyone that is healthy enough for exercise can do it. You are not going to bulk up..lol Cardio is for fat burning and becoming leaner!
If you are looking for something in addition to T25, look into 21 day fix by Autumn Calabrese! I've been doing this program and have lost 64lbs in 4 months (getting my full 1200+ calories, don't worry ) It promotes healthier eating, no starving yourself because you eat 6 meals per day and they are big depending on how healthy your foods are, you measure in containers so you don't have to count your calories (although as a precaution I do it anyway to make sure I don't fall short) and it comes with an exercise program..it's literally half the price of T25, I have NO idea why.0 -
My advice for what kind of exercise to do is - do the type that you enjoy. Finding something that you enjoy and feel like you can do at least 3 times a week (or three different activities that you could each do once a week) for decades to come is way better than pushing yourself to do something you don't really like, or can't see yourself carrying on with, just whilst you shift the lbs.0

I think it is a great idea to try out T25; however, you really need to find an activity that you like and can physically do. I started out at 231lbs by just walking. When I felt more up to it I incorporated running. Then I added hills. Then I started doing classes like Zumba and H.I.T. If you don't find something you love you will think of every excuse in the book to avoid doing it.
Another poster was right on--losing weight should be focused in the kitchen. It is far more important than any exercise. Eating 1500 calories a day and exercising for 1500 calories are NOT the same thing.
Best of luck0
